  1. Jeff can go suck on it, but he's right. This team just wasn't that good. They made a run, and it sucks that it wasn't enough, but it just wasn't. Ultimately, with all the cockpunch losses they've had this year, all they needed was one -- at any point, not just this weekend -- to make a difference. And it didn't happen.
  2. I said so at the time -- I told my wife it reminded me too much of the other catch. I didn't like it at all. I also commented that I hoped that maybe they'd been given another shot, a chance to exorcise the Yadier Molina demon.
  3. Egg-zactly.
  4. Endy Chavez making that crazy circus catch in left field to save a run in the seventh inning.
  5. The ceremony was nice. I bawled like a baby. I don't even know what to say about this team, these last couple of weeks, this season. I keep writing responses to some of the other posts around here, but then I just delete them without posting them.

Fun was had by all, even from Row N of the Mezz where you can't see the pop flies or the top half of the scoreboard. Awesome. Just awesome. And yes, Val, I think Johan's the Cy Young winner. He won't be, because Lincecum has struck out every single batter he's faced this season, but he should be.

  8. I love this fucking guy. Love him.
  9. Vince Coleman Firecracker wrote: Santana's looking like a bargain at 17 mil this year. I swear, Gary has the Pool up in the booth during the broadcast. Hi, Gary!
  10. By the way - could we replay the season with Johan pitching on three days' rest the whole time?
  11. seawolf17 wrote: That's what I always love about Gary. It's like he's me up there, calling the game. Plus, he has an encyclopedic knowledge of Mets history. I could probably sit and listen to him talk for hours.
  12. Yes, that play was incredible, but if that's anyone other than Carlos Delgado (or maybe Charlie O'Brien), it's not even close.
  13. That's what I always love about Gary. It's like he's me up there, calling the game. By the way -- I don't care about Tim Lincecum and his 350 strikeouts; Johan Santana is the 2008 NL Cy Young Award winner. No pitcher has been bigger.
  14. Oh, and thank you, Carlos.
  15. AG/DC wrote: Just my impression, but Wright came to play. True. Of course, he's had to deal with getting crapped on the last few days, so maybe he has a little extra something.
  16. If you thought on April 1 that our most productive Martinez would be Ramon, raise your hand.
  17. Okay, we'll do that in the third instead. That's fine.
  18. Hey, idea! Let's have them score ten or twelve runs this inning, then end Santana's day so he's nice and fresh for a start tomorrow!
  19. All that for one run. (sigh) Okay, Johan. Give me eight more shutout innings.
  20. Let's go Cubbies! (clap clap clapclapclap)
  21. THANK YOU, DERREK LEE!
  22. FUCKING HELL, David.
  23. Come on, David, just strike out and get it over with so Carlos can get a shot.
