It doesn't change anything other than effect the charge. who was it then? Girlfriend's father? Maybe Frankie asked for her hand in marriage and got shot down? No, Frankie blew the proposal.

They need to know you are as fed up with the losing and bad acts as they are. show us the plan, Jeff. SHOW US THE PLAN! He would be more likely to show you some Wise snacks. And yes, I get the feeling the Wilpon's are detached from both the team and fans. Cue Mark Cuban.
  3. Rain is threatening, nothing more than that for now. Mets 2-0. Ike Davis hit a Citifield double.
  4. I'd love to see the Mets get some leverage here in trying to get the uniform off Frankie's back, but then there is that union to deal with. If the Mets were winning the douchbaggery of Frankie & Santana would draw far less attention. Maybe Frankie's father in law told him that he sucked? It does seem all threads lead to Jerry eventually and I just don't understand why he is still manager.

In the wake of a terrible team, a lousy recruiting year, a wave of injuries, and a lame duck coach throwing serviceable players into his doghouse, Steve actually made the rotation (we were down to eight players by the end of the year) with the 6-2 pointman rotating up to small forward and Steve taking the point. A Westchester paper did a feature on gritty hardworking Steve and a couple of his teammates were happy to bring that cliche of cliches --- "On another team, Steve would get more playing time." As we finished the season 2-26, one was left to wonder, what team was that? As for quotes you can't find, what's the point? As for his agent, it's perfectly reasonable for her to request --- not "demand" --- a trade for her walk-year client if they can't find PT for him. Even she is quoted as saying the bets thing he can do to get more playing time is to hit better. There's nothing here except the human propensity to project a moral failing onto a physical one. A team that was 1-26?

The talent is suspect, the game management is laughable and I'm much closer to believing the Wilpon's financial woes are more true than false. Factoring in some of the horrible contracts that are on the books, things may have to get worse before they get better. Earlier this season, I thought this season could be the prelude to bigger things. I now believe it may be the epilogue to the disasters of 2007, 2008 and 2009. It is not all doom and gloom, however. I feel the farm system is deep and that the performances of some of the youngsters will provide youthful and cheap talent for the next few years. For the first time in a long time (maybe ever), I am actively rooting for the Mets to clear some payroll and NOT sign a free agent. I am not giving up on Beltran, as I believe given time to get up to game speed over a full season that he still has the talent to produce. I have given up on this team, though. For a team like the Mets that is filled with bloated contracts, $18.5 million and "bargain" cannot be shared in the same sentence. IMO, it's time to cut and run. Take what we can get by moving the heavy contracts and go forward. I like Beltran, but if another team wants to give us a young part or take on some salary, I'd have to consider it. I agree that the game management is bad. Oh, I believe. But all talent is suspect, and the Mets' talent is less suspect han most. The team payroll remains among the highest in MLB. I also don't think 2007, 2008, 1nd 2009 can be fairly characterized as disasters. Two stretch-run failures and an injury-filled third year don't indicate a system-wide problem. I think a good manager and a re-assessment of the offensive approach can go a long way. If the 2007 & 2008 collapses are not disasters what would you call them? just curious.

  13. Not a big Misch fan but why the hell not.. If Bay is done for the year how about more AB's for Carter & Evans.
  14. 2013 or 2014?
  15. Very Interesting.I doubt antone will take Beltran's salary. Carlos looks pretty retirement like.
  16. Martinez 1 Carter 1 Thole 1 Reyes 1 Pelfrey 4 F Rodriguez 1.5
  17. In the Post today, Jason Bay aiming to return this season and hopes to be back in September. That must have been one helluva concussion. However, getting two months of Fmart may better serve the greater good.

Well it's still the bottom of the 7th and it's now 10-4 Houston. The kicker is they've done it all without hitting one ball hard. Bloops, bleeders, walks, plus several Atlanta errors (I counted at least three and that was just after I turned it on) added up to an Astros' six-spot. The highlight was a bases-loaded bloop that wound up scoring four. OK, inning now finally over. Other than that, nice to see the Yanx leave a small army on base in the late innings while losing 2-1 to Boston this afternoon. Included in that was a bases-loaded/no-out deal in the 7th where they didn't score. They also left runners on in the 8th & 9th. Typical Yanx/BoSox: a 2-1 game somehow takes them over 3-1/2 hours to finish. only 3 1/2?
