    Yogi hurt

Yogi is fine after falling on his derriere in the clubhouse reaching for a bowl of soup. Xrays of his ass revealed nothing.
  6. Missed it,, aah shit
  7. New Jersey Mets?
  8. Well, it is that time of the year again. I did not participate last year so I may be out of school starting this thread. If not, any interest in a 10-12 person league through Yahoo or CBS?? I am willing to set it up. I guess we would need to know the preference as to AL, NL or both, and scoring style, head to head or 5X5 or standard roto. The 5X5 includes runs scored by batters and K's by pitchers. A potential draft date and time "could" be set for evening 3/28 or Sunday 3/29 I'm all ears..Ashie..
  9. The Times is saying the Mets were in financial difficulty after the 2009 books were closed before the Picard suit.

  11. Can Ollies contract be sold to Japan at a nominal price?
  12. Benjamin Grimm wrote: soupcan wrote: I hear you but I'm having difficulty finding a scenario where Jose Reyes is a Met next season. That is what is really tightening my colon. I'm with you on that. I'd hate to see him leave, and that is looking like the more likely outcome. There may be more than a few Mets leaving. Please stay David, please!
  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I agree. The Mets need to get a fallback plan in place, one that doesn't involve making a regular starter out of Harris or Hairston. Sack up FMart.
  14. metirish wrote: Centerfield wrote: Alderson says contract talks during spring training are "unlikely". I repeat, this makes no sense to me. Up until now I've given Sandy the benefit of the doubt, but this just sucks. Doesn't Reyes say the same thing?m no talks now? Absolutely, nothing new here.
  15. Safe to say Carlos is a bit behind as of 3/8/2011.
  16. Beltran will miss today due to soreness in knee per McCullough of Star Ledger.

I think we can safely presume that those numbers will continue to fall (how far, I'm not sure) with each successive crappy season. Package (season/plan) sales will drop a certain amount for 2011 as compared to 2010, and perhaps farther if 2011 is not a successful season. grain of salt for the source (Craig Carton) But he was apparantly reading something that said the Mets got 80% renewals on season tickets. The question is then will new ticket plan buyers make up that 20%. I don't get the impression the Mets' problem is revenues, or even that there's an attainable figure that would "rescue" them. The issue is that they owe money all over town, man. Insanely positive "Ticket Revenue" will not provide enough cash to make a dent against Met debt.
  18. True.. The "essence" of things may be of a similar seventies morbidity. Then again, maybe they have a 90-72 2011 season, payroll doesn't get cut too much and a year from now this discussion is a distant memory.
  19. batmagadanleadoff wrote: metsmarathon wrote: so let me get this straight. there's actually somebody who believes that, after a wilpon firesale wherein they whittle down the payroll to $70M, the mets would be able to pull in two million spectators to citi, presumably at the current ticket prices, and that with such an attendance-payroll ratio, the mets would be able to turn a profit? really? Not me. And not at those ticket prices. The Mets couldn't sell out their prime tickets when CF was brand new. I'm sticking by one of my earlier posts, Citified will resemble Shea in the late 70's, but without the charm..
  20. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Is Sherman aware that the Strasburg he mentioned is on the shelf for a year with Tommy John surgery and might never be the same pitcher? And we'll see about Harper. Sometimes the most-hyped guys don't pan out. Paul Wilson, Jason Isringhausen & Bill Pulsipher.
  21. Sherman says the Mets are unlikely contender in 2012? Geez. Quite abit of hyberbole throughout. Charlie Finley tried a fire sale once.
  22. In the books >>>

  24. I don't think there is a rule. Maybe Boston has a split squad game. Ryan Kalish, Lars Anderson and Josh Reddick are top Sawx prospects.
