Longshot to be an All Star? Longshot to be included in special edition of baseball cards that make the editors of Beckett Almanac plotz? The median age of ballplayers in AA is 24. The average age of ballplayers in the Eastern League is 24.2 This guy just turned 22 on August 11, so he played most of the season as a 21-year-old. He's been young for his leagues most of his career. And of course, he's not in AA anymore, as he's graduated to the big leagues. So whatever his issues, being too old certainly isn't one of them. How about a longshot to get enough MLB service time to be vested. I don't see anything on his minor league lines hitting wise to show hit might hit enough to stick for much more than a cup of coffee at some point. Maybe my brain is addled by dreaming of Troy Tulowitzki, a real MLB all-star! to come and play SS for the Mets.. No offense intended to Edgy of Wilfredo Tovar.. I need a drink.. And we all lived!

Frayed Knot wrote: The biggest thing the Wilpons did wrong was shaft Doubleday. -- I've heard this a number of times before but how this supposed shafting took place has yet to be explained to me. Fred, as a minority owner, had a clause in the contract that if a certain pct of the team were to be sold then he had the right of first refusal to but that portion. That Nelson failed to know this or was mad because he didn't want Fred to be an equal partner is his fault and certainly nothing underhanded from Wilpon. I liked that guy and he knew baseball -- I have and had no opinion of Doubleday personally, but he never struck me as a guy who knew baseball particularly well. Owning a team to him seemed much more of the rich guy's toy than any kind of lifelong dream. Spot on... Nelson was pretty detatched...
  20. Its' not Todd Helton's fault that he played at Coors or in the steroid era but it won't help for sure.. I Believe he will fall short and eventually get in...
