  1. I'll take either Grote Piazza or Carter in my lineup anytime.... I probably like Grote best because he was the first Mets catcher of my youth..
  2. I suppose Choo would fall in below Pence.... 5-7 years ??? and not cheap... I still like Nate McLouth better but that is for another thread...
  3. That made me laugh...
  4. The Cardinals don't lose much in October...
  5. I'd love to see the Ray's and A's meet..
  6. Nice work as always...Murphy excelled wire to wire... Dice-K ahead of Gee..

  9. Brandon Moss and Josh Donaldson are two of the best kept secrets in baseball..They flat out mash..
  10. There was an ESPN piece the other day suggesting the Mets would build like the Red Sox..That would mean signing a gaggle of say 2-5 million dollar type guys.. There is not one available free agent I would pursue and offer big boy dollars. My favorite pound for pound is Nate McClouth...he brings speed and a good bat to the table and should come reasonable...

The first doesn't really say that. The second implies that, but it's certainly not true. Payroll is not the only place to cut costs...The are many items on the fixed cost side of the ledger to evaluate.. Winning more games would be the easiest quickest way to increase revenues.

  13. I don't believe any creditor would want to drive the Mets into Bankruptcy and leave the disposition of assets to a trustee. Companies in far far worse shape than Wilpon get loans and restructuring in larger amounts everyday... JP Morgan does not want to own a baseball team, they want to get paid and are likely to offer manageable terms... I don't believe any of this will have a serious impact on the 2014 payroll...

Cruz sure fits the profile of the team buying low on ex-PED-cons, but I agree about the translation rate of power from Texas to Queens. I bet we hear some about Wladimir Balentien too. You do know he is RIP? Wladimir Balentien just broke the Japanese single-season home run record. He most definitely not dead. Conflating with Greg Halman..

  19. Losing to the Brewers at home is pretty lame...
  20. On to Piazza day..I hope it sells out and the Mets do Mikey proud.
  21. Gary with a crack about the lines at shake shack..
  22. Make it happen Lagares.

Notable to me is that the game is over at Shea or most any other park where the bleachers don't build up against the foul line behind third. Brown has a good chance to score then instead of barely making it into third. I don't believe there is much territory in most of the new-style stadiums...Just bad luck...
