  1. Somewhere, Vince Naimoli is saying "Why the hell did I sell that team?"
  2. Perhaps they see Backman in the same way the Dodgers viewed Don Mattingly a few seasons ago?
  3. Very tough for me, but I'm going with the Rangers considering that they've never been to the World Series.
  4. North by Northwest, hands down. Absolute masterpiece.
  5. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Ceetar wrote: Other people are reporting that Omar hasn't been told this yet right? Sure, I doubt he'd admit it. But I find it suspect that only Heyman has it Omar's not firing himself, you know. I wish Jeff Wilpon would fire himself, the sneering ass.
  6. North by Northwest is one of my favorite films of all time.
  7. Any catcher that bats .300 gets my vote of confidence.
  8. I saw this and was very happy for you. Yahoo Sports is my #1 source for sports news.
  9. Oh wow, this is phenomenal. I wonder, has the 1964 World Series survived? I read David Halberstam's book a while back, and I would love to see the final nail in the coffin of that period in time that made the MFYs so vomit-inducing today.
  10. It's set during WWII, and they didn't want to go spandex. But I do think Chris Evans was not a good or particularly inspired choice.
  11. Here's one that made it to the front page the other day: Can you name the New York Mets Opening Day lineups between 1991 and 2010?
  12. MFS62 wrote: Now, if only New York could finally get a Mayor who wasn't a YLD.... Anthony Weiner for Mayor '13
  13. There was some vibration, Jeter said. And acting. My job is to get on base. Schmuck.
  14. You forgot Razor Shines, who owes his job solely to being Jerry Manuel's buddy.
  15. The sooner we can replace the Jerry Manuel Managing Unit the better. HoJo's gotta go, and I've never cared for Razor Shines, I view him as a waste of space. Let him go back to hawking Aquafina.
  16. I'm tempted to use "no hit, good field" on him, but he didn't field particularly well, as really only his throwing arm was good.
  17. Funny, I don't remember the 2005 season's treading water act anywhere near as much as this season's incarnation has frustated me.
  18. Or a robot, like I've said for months.
  19. That Reds team looks like such an aberration when you look back on the historical record. It was bookended by two 5th-place seasons of 75 wins and 74 wins, respectively. And they only won 91 games to finish in first that year.
  20. He raced out to the NL lead for home runs at one point, didn't he?
  21. He apparently decided he couldn't wait until the end of the season. His 90-year-old mother has been very ill, it seems. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AsUj7itfQNwJt12NEoiDq4wRvLYF?slug=tsn-166180
  22. 2-1 now on a Ruben Tejada sac fly.
  23. My singular memory of Blastings: his "first drink":
  24. The whole cream-pie schtick is so early 20th century. You think they would have come up with something else by now.
  25. Edgy DC wrote: Niese spells his name JONATHON, not JONATHAN. Like he's some sort of endurance contest. Makes no sense to me. Do parents think they're being creative by coming up with weird spellings for their kids? All it does is make them self-conscious when they're young.
