  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Players get rings for league championships, don't they? Yes.
  3. Well, whenever they say hospice, that means death is coming soon, but yeah, that was very quick. RIP Sparky.
  4. In my heart he is, but not besting John Franco is going to hurt him. A LOT.
  5. I had no idea that it was Robin Ventura's idea for Bobby to go back out in the glasses and the mustache. My opinion of him just soared.
  6. I loved seeing Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz get three handshakes with Sandy while sniveling little Jeffy was left hanging on a third one.
  7. Is that guy from New York One named "Buck Michigan"?
  8. Tracksuit gets the first question after Burkhardt.
  9. Look at little Afterthought Jeffy.
  10. From what I gather, it must be a typo, because Satchel Paige didn't pitch professionally after 1966. The Clowns continued barnstorming until they disbanded in 1988.
  11. I did vote for the cardboard cut-out.
  12. You know, as I think about it, if Sandy wants a manager without an independent streak or ingenuity, we're going to wind up with the second coming of The Robot, Jerry Manuel.
  13. I'm going with none of the above. None of them impress me.
  14. I'm going to try and will Ron Gardenhire into the picture.
  15. "I'd like to present my deputies, John Ricco, Paul DePodesta, J.P. Ricciardi, and Omar Minaya." "I'd also like to present Ian O'Connor with this cardboard cutout of Derek Jeter's butt."
  16. Davis Niese Takahashi Thole Carter
  17. Ross Gload is still around? I remember him being part of the Epic Fail Offseason of 2001-2002.
  18. Looks like our front office may wind up being stacked with SABR all-stars: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/mets/strong_willed_manager_not_in_alderson_GcOXSRl7lQxDh6TxTfuewL?CMP=OTC-rss&FEEDNAME=#ixzz13fmBGRwz Alderson will work to bring in a few loyalists from his past to help implement his philosophy. According to several sources, he already has reached out to Paul DePodesta, whom he hired in San Diego, to help strengthen the Mets statistical department and J.P. Ricciardi, whom he worked with in Oakland, to assist on player personnel. DePodesta, the former Dodgers GM, has to decide if he wants to leave the Padres for whom he is executive VP. A few executives briefed on the subject said they think DePodesta will join the Mets. Ricciardi, the former Blue Jays GM, is an analyst for ESPN who is weighing several options.
  19. I couldn't find it either. I know the revised version is held up on occasion as too confusing, but only one little thing has me stumped - where did Marlowe get the key to Geiger's place?
  20. At least we averted Jeffy's Josh Byrnes clusterfuck-in-the-making.
  21. Humphrey Bogart snarks his way through this film noir classic as Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe, with soon-to-be wife Lauren Bacall as Vivian Sternwood. As Marlowe works to unravel a convoluted plot of blackmail, gambling, and murder, he finds himself drawn deeper down the rabbit hole with every move he makes.
  22. Bondy just wrote an article basically proclaiming the Yankees the victors of the NLCS. Douchebag.
  23. Oh man, I really have to think about it. This was the matchup I wanted to see going into the playoffs, and now I really don't know who I want to win.
  24. I honestly could care less between Alderson and Daniels, Edgy, other than a "hometown boy comes home" story. I just would like them to at least talk to Daniels. That's all I ask.
