  1. After the Kazmir incident, I am very averse to dangling pitching prospects.

  10. "New York Metropolitans" is a fun one - many names of current and former Mets can be taken from it. Here's one: New York Metropolitans = Tim Leary Owns Poor Kent
  11. Where is my first post?Hmm...
  12. Edgy DC wrote: Valadius' last two posts betraying the high living of a collegiate Friday evening. Um... perhaps...

  16. Xavier Clifford Nady Born: 11/14/78 Birthplace: Carmel, CA Height: 6'2" Weight: 205 Bats: Right Throws: Right (Take that photo for the roster thread, Edgy) Xavier Nady never quite became the full-time outfielder that many scouts envisioned. When Phil Nevin was dealt to the Rangers last season, he was given an opportunity at first base. But he was unimpressive, hitting only two second-half homers. Although he hit .261 with 13 dingers in 326 at-bats on the year, most of his work came against lefties (.323 AVG, .452 SLG). He continued to be stifled by right-handers (.223 AVG, 45 K, 9 BB). Nady recently turned 27, and he is going to an organization that offers little opportunity for an everyday spot. Unless there are more moves on the horizon, it's logical to assume Nady in a platoon with 25-year-old Mike Jacobs at first base. As it stands, Nady's fantasy value remains limited on the Mets. Funny how his middle name is Clifford. Looks like he works well against lefties. Nady is also one of 19 players to jump straight from the draft to the majors, singling in his first at-bat back in 2000. His career slugging percentage of .729 is the highest in Pac-10 history.
  17. We need a catcher, and he was traded last offseason.
  18. I love anagrams. Frequently, anagrams of people's names reflect themselves. Let's see what we come up with with Mets players, former players, etc.'s names. Go here for an anagram generator: http://wordsmith.org/anagram/ I'll start: Xavier Nady = Vineyard Ax
  19. Retro indeed! Is that '86?
  20. I do NOT want to trade Petit. NEVER. I don't care who it's for. The kid's control is FREAKY. Pitchers that can paint the corners like he can don't come along too often.
  21. Thank God Jason Kendall isn't available this offseason. If the Mets were to try for him, I would barf. His skills have eroded a ton, and he's been overrated for years anyway.
  22. At least we keep Chris "Dumbo" Woodward.
  23. Quote from Omar: "Nady gives us a lot of flexibility as we put our team together for 2006," Minaya said. "He has not been given the opportunity to play every day. We feel he is capable of being an everyday player." The first part sounds like they're flipping him somewhere else. The second part is ambiguous.
  24. Thanks cooby, you were right about that.
  25. The trade has been completed... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AjxcjueG98DsOXTUInBwl.c5nYcB?slug=ap-mets-padrestrade&prov=ap&type=lgns
