  1. The problem isn't the fans. It's the stadium itself. Think about it. How hot does it get in the summer down in Florida? It's regularly 90 or above. Would YOU want to go to a game in that heat? The Marlins NEED a domed, air-conditioned stadium to attract fans in the dead of summer. That's the problem.
  2. Check it out! Delgado's got his Mets cap on.
  3. What are we going to end up doing with Milledge, anyway?
  4. Whatever happened to that offer from Don King to build a stadium on some of his land in Florida?
  5. If we're building for the future, though, we should keep in mind that a new ballpark is on its way.
  6. The Mets have acquired Carlos Delgado from the Marlins for Mike Jacobs, Yusmeiro Petit, and Grant Psomas. Who is Grant Psomas?
  7. Um... shouldn't Petit be removed from the 40?
  8. Victor Diaz needs to work on his defense. BADLY.
  9. I do have a girlfriend. She just lives in North Carolina.
  10. I've been on the BJ Ryan bandwagon most of the offseason - until I came up with "Nightcrawler". Well no, actually I still prefer Ryan, but either one looks good to me.
  11. You mean Aaron Rowand?
  12. That's my point. And he always seems to have 100 RBI by the All-Star break and finishes with like 140.
  13. Delgado will shit the bed in every second half of the season that he's here. He's notorious for second-half slumps.
  14. We put Nady in while that trade wasn't yet official.
  15. Time to slot in Delgado, or are we waiting for final confirmation?
  16. Watch Willie continue to bat Beltran third. That and/or Wright fifth.
  17. Finish up with Nightcrawler first, Omar, please.
  18. Regardless, with Delgado on board, it focuses our attention on the catcher and second base positions, and to a lesser extent right field.
  19. I remember Wilson and Pulsipher. However, I am too young to remember the full extent of the hype surrounding them. I only caught the tail end, when people were already doubting them.
  20. That's one reason, yes. But I hate trading young talent at any time.
  21. Great short-term deal. We might make the playoffs a few times. However: This might be bad long-term. Jake-Monster could become the next Jeff Bagwell, and Petit is as sure-fire a prospect as they come, and he'll likely be a #2 starter. So I'm iffy on this deal.
  22. Funny to see what was said: http://web.archive.org/web/20051122181521/http://p079.ezboard.com/fthecranepoolforumfrm32.showMessageRange?topicID=50.topic&start=1&stop=20
  23. Consider the following: 50 Largest Metropolitan Areas in the United States New York Los Angeles Chicago Philadelphia Dallas Miami Washington Houston Detroit Boston Atlanta San Francisco-Oakland Riverside-San Bernardino, California (Inland Empire) Phoenix Seattle Minneapolis-St. Paul San Diego St. Louis Baltimore Pittsburgh Tampa-St. Petersburg Cleveland Denver Cincinnati Portland, Oregon Kansas City Sacramento San Jose San Antonio Orlando Columbus, Ohio Providence, RI Norfolk-Virginia Beach Indianapolis Milwaukee Las Vegas Charlotte New Orleans (Pre-Katrina) Nashville Austin, Texas Memphis Buffalo Louisville, Kentucky Hartford Jacksonville Richmond, Virginia Oklahoma City Birmingham, Alabama Rochester, NY Excluding Riverside-San Bernardino (which is really just an offshoot of LA), the largest metropolitan area in the United States without an MLB team is that of Portland, Oregon. Las Vegas is the fastest-growing metropolitan area.
  24. I used the simulator on the 2005 season countless times, keeping the rosters updated, and nearly every time the NL East was entirely above .500, so that ended up not surprising me when it happened.
  25. There's no WAY you can guarantee a five-year deal with a closer. No WAY!
