  1. I see us trading Schoeneweis to Pittsburgh, Cincy, Tampa Bay, Baltimore or the like for a prospect or two.
  2. He'll be gone. Same with Shittyweis.
  3. Last year was our year. We definitely were better last year. I'm 20. I was in the womb during the '86 World Series, so I have never seen a Mets World Championship. I first became a baseball fan, and a Mets fan, at the beginning of the Bobby V years - with Baerga and Olerud. 1997 was the first Mets season I followed. 1999 was a wild, wild ride. We tried to come back against the Braves, but of course, there was Kenny Fucking Rogers. But then there was 2000. 2000 made up for 1999. If not for Armando Benitez, we might have won in 2000. However, 2006-2007 was the reverse of 1999-2000. Instead of a promising team building on that promise, it was a promising team that fell at the finish line. So I'd say this year's collapse was the saddest moment in my Mets fan experience.

  5. My desire to do the crossword today has been quashed by the Post's editors.
  6. Our bullpen sucked. Conti's gotta be on the hot seat.
  7. Right now, it looks like they'll fire Alomar and Manuel.
  8. What are you smoking, Steve? FELIPE LOPEZ?!?!? Please. Reyes hit a rough patch. Rickey didn't help, I don't think. Rickey's selfishness might have started rubbing off on Reyes. Fire Rickey, but let Jose rest up for next year.
  9. Iubitul wrote: To be honest, the end of last season hurt a hell of a lot more than this season did. I disagree. Last year was a hell of a lot more fun from start to finish. The end came suddenly and was over quickly. This year, we weren't as good, and we imploded down the stretch. There was a feeling of helplessness, as hope and optimism were slowly drained away. No, this season hurts a LOT more, IMO.

Otherwise, should the Mets should fail to win the division, I would be compelled to grab my old Adirondack, travel to New York, and go Offerman on him for jinxing the Mets. I'm starting to have thoughts along these lines now...
  11. Fuck it. Only way I'll give a crap is if the Cubs break the Curse of the Billy Goat, so we won't have to feel sorry for them anymore.
  12. When I throw out the first pitch next year, I'll have some time to let Willie know how I feel about all this. Any suggestions on what I should tell him?
  13. I hate baseball.
  14. I'm so happy I could cry. I needed this day so badly.
  15. HOLY SHIT. A tiny glimmer of hope has just returned for me.
  16. Baseball isn't as fun anymore. Bluh.
  17. You know what we need? You know what Pedro needs? Some inspiration from the late Nelson de la Rosa!
  18. We all feel like crap right now, but we've gotta get our shit together, as well as the Mets. Do it for the kids! Like, for example, this kid: And this one:
  19. Milledge's D has considerably improved. The thing he most has to work on, though, is cutting down on those late breaks toward the ball.
  20. My cousin, Brett Ratner, is good at doing one thing - making blockbuster movies that make tons of money and air forever on weekend cable but lack a great story. He did it again with this one, which I've refused to watch based on what I've heard about its plot.
  21. Whenever I feel down about baseball, it helps to watch this:
  22. All right Metsies, this is how many runs we need:
  23. I want to knock out the Nats.
  24. Go get 'em, Metsies!
