Later smg58 Jun 12 2009 04:17 PM Switzer's another one of those guys (like Chip Ambres, for example) who really has nothing left to prove at AAA but can't seem to stick at the big league level. 6. ="Nymr83":35sdfmcj]hey, you rarely want your guys to get hurt (the exception would be where the injury forces an idiot manager to replace the injured player with a better player who should have started in the first place), but perez has been a disaster and theres no reason to believe he'd be helping right now. Lets ask Boston if they'd take a C prospect for Penny if we agree to pay the whole salary, remind them that he'd face the Yankees and maybe help them out.[/quote:35sdfmcj] Penny griping today that he doesn't want to be sent to the pen, which is looking more likely as Smoltzie gets ready to return to major league baseball. No chance the Sox deal him though -- he's too steady as an insurance policy in the event that someone gets hurt (Dice-K again, or Smoltz showing his age, etc.). Well, yeah. But they'd still rather have an unhappy camper in the pen-- provided he's not throwing things and revealing secret handshakes to the media-- than give away a trade asset. There's practically no chance-- given their recent trade history-- that the Beanies make a strict dump trade. metirish Jun 12 2009 09:43 AM " you can never have enough pitching" From page 1 of the imaginary book on baseball , revised edition , last updated by some GM somewhere..

    I'm ready

The problem now is there are too many B-list celebrity types in the lineup. I think they should send Fartinez back to AAA, and let Church play every day, for starters. Tatis/Murphy as the everyday 1B is just bad. Howie Rose said on the radio yesterday that the two of them as a blahtoon 1B were hitting all of .161 since Delgado went down. Too many #7/#8 style hitters, not enough #4/5 types. No way to fix that with this roster, with Sheff having come back to Earth and Santos looking less and less like Ramon Castro by the day. They are missing two of the four no-doubt best hitters on the team. As my high school principal used to say, you can't polish a turd.
  8. Redding 2 Beltran 2 Castillo 2 Wright .5 Feliciano .75 Green .25
  9. Mets injuries make baby Jesus cry.
  10. El Duque picked up by Texas, always looking for starting pitching.
  11. ="Frayed Knot":9r3d733q]I'm not going to throw an 'Ugh' in Sheffield's direction. I just wish he were hitting 6th 4 days per week instead of 4th 6 days per.[/quote:9r3d733q] Here here. Frayed Knot Jun 11 2009 08:37 PM Where where? Frayed Knot Jun 12 2009 06:57 PM Un-Ugh
  12. So it's not the park that stops HRs, it's the Mets quad-A lineup? OK, rally time. He said disgustedly.

Like Lenny treated the mouse in "Of Mice and Men," at the beginning that is. And if you find some navy #2 tees in his bureau on one of your home visits, does he get the treatment that mouse got later on? Maybe. Last thing I need is to hear my boy's talk of soft rain falling. The flip side is that my wife was a Yankees fan when I met her and I converted her to the good guys' side. So no one is beyond redemption.

  16. Knocked around in AA ball for a couple of months and you get what my boy got -- a demotion back to PSL. Pitching for the moment as a long man on that squad.
