="LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr"]="MFS62"]="Edgy DC"] -- Jeter probably makes more lettuce than A-Rod or any other ballplayer. That's good, because we're sure that he's kind to baby bunnies, too. Later Stands to reason. It behooves him to treat them well. More flexible skeletons means that they're superlative at burrowing into tight holes. (Gere joke! YAY! My parents are so proud!) Oh, and "Number 2" shot coffee through my sinuses. Beats shooting number 2 through your sinuses, I suppose.

He more or less missed and didn't throw the cup, but see if you don't see a second shower come out of the stands from the right of Victorino --- your right, his left -- after the first guy pounds his from your left and Shane's right. Anybody who throws a homerun ball back at CitiField should acknowledge their Cubs wannabeness, move to Chicago and join that crowd. Met fans had mostly been waiting 44 years to catch homerun balls.[/quote:1gewy1sc] I think the guy on V's right was the actual (primary) beer tosser. Got into a little late-night debate (prompted by a Facebook post) with a Phils-fan friend who does work for various Philly-area nonprofits about this. Vic's apparently a hell of a guy off-field-- she's worked a few fundraisers with him-- a WXPN guest-overnight-DJ gig, some Children's Hospital stuff-- and he's exceedingly generous with his time, and funny, and gracious to everyone he spends said time with*. "Yes," I said, "but that doesn't mean that every time I see him gesture at the Met dugout, I won't give him the finger inside my head." (*Utley, on the other hand? By her thirdhand report, kind of a stoner d-bag, especially since last fall. Oooh, I feel like TMZ!) Frayed Knot Aug 13 2009 11:55 AM I like the 'What did I do?' look on the guy's face as he's being carried out. That and the fact that a lone Philly phan out there is pelting him with peanuts as he goes. Farmer Ted Aug 13 2009 03:13 PM Victorino files a police report against the fan who dumped the Old Style on his head. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Aug 13 2009 03:44 PM Al Smith didn't file no report.

The important thing is that one of the superfans out there at Wrigley dumped a beer on the head of the Cryin Hawaiian, Shane Victorino, while he was fielding a fly out last night. Couldn't have picked a better target.

="PiggiesTomatoes":2oa4i2aa]Couldn't listen to the DB TV announcers so I switched to WFAN and Howie Rose made a very good point late in the game. That point was that Mets pitching woes have been such that when the team takes the field the only time the players must feel they have a reasonable expectation of winning is when Santana takes the mound. Howie was very direct in referring to The Tall Glass of Water as a tremendous disappointment. Master OTO, Wayne Hagin, next chimes in wondering out loud how things were going to get better. The last game, prior to yesterday, that Wright, Beltran, Delgado, and Reyes all missed was September 19, 2006. The day after they clinched the NL East. Who were the starting 9 that day? It seems to me that we've been burned by approximately the last 487 of them we've called for. OK my math may be a little off, but it's become almost automatic when a 8th place hitter comes up with men on which suxx because: - we've been giving up far too many hits to pitchers - even when you do get the pitcher out you've still done the other team a favor by clearing that spot for them to start the next inning. It's one thing to do that move selectively. It's another to do it almost as a reflex. Valadius Aug 11 2009 10:40 PM We are, for the most part, throwing out guys in the everyday lineup who are either: A) Way past their prime Not ready for the big show C) Not major league starter material with the exception of David Wright, who has magically lost his ability to hit home runs, and Luis Castillo, who has forgotten how to play defense. John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 12 2009 08:27 AM I was so CAHNfident in our inability to win this game I turned it off during the pitching change with the tying run at the plate and went to bed. And I make no exception for Cory. They are overmatched --- a month of Daniel Murphy batting cleanup will move future researchers to do some serious head scratching --- but that should make them more focused on strategemeric thinking, not less. That said, every time Livan starts a game, I think, "Oh, yeah, he's still here," so disengagement has spread to me. I'd really like to talk to Sheffield about why on earth he wants to go down with this ship.
