  1. Then yeah, considering the d'Arnaud thing, it's a little odd that they're pushing Mesoraco overboard. Unless they considered him burnt as a major leaguer? Nido's great defensively, but... limited in terms of offensive ceiling.
  2. Is Nido out of options?
  3. BTW, YoungerPooper loved Gwen and Miles (AND Spider-Ham), and her birthday just came and went... Turns out that it's a lot harder than you may think to find a non-bootleg Spider-Gwen replica hoodie. It's like the girls-don't-buy-stuff Rey-merchandise deficit all over again.
  4. 87-75. 3rd place, in Wild Card race until final week.
  5. Met him just once, but he seemed a very stand-up dude. It is a real rarity to have somebody in his position with an old-timer knowledge base with the generosity of spirit to never old-timer you.
  6. Yankee fans ARE right-- minus the gambling acumen and once-in-a-generation skill set, he IS like the Michael Jordan of baseball.
  7. We've been spoiled of late by the Black Panthers and the Ragnaroks, I think.
  8. Completely on-point with the suspense/horror aspects-- right down to the audience-friendly flashes of dark humor in the midst of the gore. Intensely thought-provoking, and Taylor-made for post game parsing/discussion/annoying middlebrow thinkpieces. As you might have heard, Nyong'o is FAN-fucking tastic; half of the movie's profound fear (as opposed to the expertly-rigged jump scares scattered throughout) comes from her facial expressions and voice alone. It feels a little-- a LITTLE-- not-fully-realized, like an incomplete thought. But yeah, it's good.
  9. Kinda puts a top on salary growth for a bit, doesn't it? Like, "You want $36M AAV? You think you're NEAR Trout-good?"
  10. I dig this. Or something similar, like no wordmark on the jersey.
  11. I know a lot of you guys are dads, but I didn't think you guys were such Dads. Yeesh, the cargo thing. Outside of beach/hot-weather-active situations... give me breathable fitted pants with some give-- UniQlo does nice ones, as a cheap staple-- and I'm good. Also, isn't CarGo more of a Carlos Gonzalez thing?
  12. I'd imagine Chang and Nas are THRILLED about a Citi Field/Chick Fil-A team-up.
  13. I like when the "poor" get "richer," and it isn't just draft-enabled. Could very well be that Tatis makes the move to third, no? As a matter of fact, given the parties involved... that seems more likely than the other way.
  14. Same. Absent anything unexpected happening during Best Shape of My Life season, I think Frazier and Smith (with Lowrie in an emergency) have a month, more or less, to show something... then, if they don't, it's Peter, principal.

"I tell him to hit third base! NOOOOOOO" And practically yelping the entire time. This is fantastic.

Jake is BEYOND Jake, but off-field... he's kind of a charisma void. Thor is pretty much there, isn't he? If he has anything APPROACHING a Cy season, he'll be undeniably facey.
  17. Going from 68 to 6 is the numerical change OF A COWARD

  19. Vic Sage wrote: =smg58 post_id=2445 time=1549477081 user_id=62] I think that anything that reduces strategy does not serve the best interests of the game. Especially if all the reductions in strategy benefit the offense. A boom in offensive production has not helped attendance levels, so stop assuming that's what people want. This does not mean that LOOGYs are necessarily a good thing. Having a pitcher on your roster who can't give you 60 good innings, especially if you're also trying to pitch your starters less, can certainly backfire. But the manager and GM should make those decisions, right or wrong, not the league. a 3-hitter rule wouldn't reduce strategies; it would simply change strategies. What it reduces is wasted time and the value of specialists.
  20. My favorite representation of Spider-Man in any non-comic-book medium. Maybe my favorite superhero film ever. And a visual stunner, too.

Only on my blind side, I'd like to add 77 inches or so of clap-clap-clapclapclap VAL! PAS-CUCCI! I think I prefer Mookie as a scatback/third-down specialist, a la Darren Sproles/pre-rapey Dave Leggett. Carl Everett feels like a good safety, doesn't he?

  23. Smart people are pretty cool to have in-house, provided that when it's time to make baseball-related business commitments, you listen to those smart people.
  24. I mean, being a complete penis of a man has got to be better than being a partial penis of a man. Edgy MD wrote: Well, the other half of that perspective is that putting them in the bullpen at all gives a hit to rotation depth, which I value more. How so? If they're not 1-5, they're going to pitch somewhere, no? Pitching staff roles tend to be written in pencil; it's best that they're pitching whatever innings they're pitching against major leaguers, hundreds of miles closer to where they'd need to be in an emergency, right?
  25. Disagree STRONGLY on the blindfoldy bid'ness. Bird Box felt just like A Quiet Place, minus the thoughtful writing, expert sound design, and emotional impact. Haven't seen Green Book, but trusted friends tell me it's in the The Help/Driving Miss Daisy vein. Bohemian Rhapsody was flat; the best parts were basically extended Queen lip synchs.
