1. WTF does "Dodgers fan first/Met fan locally" mean? Show up, root lightly if you will, Opie. But you're a fan, or you're not.
2. As Harper and Machado do their best to screw their colleagues it has to be obvious what d-bags they would make as "teammates" I'll bite. ?
3. Ricco, 50, will report to Mets COO Jeff Wilpon on special business and finance projects, including significant construction projects the Mets are planning for their Spring Training facility and other minor league facilities. Ricco will remain a resource and advisor to Mets Executive Vice President, General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen and the rest of the Baseball Department, with continuing responsibilities and oversight of the Baseball Operations budget and Major League payroll. Capitalization does not take a holiday in Corporate Metspeak. Entirely appropriate that "budget" and "payroll" were without significant capital.
4. He's a solid middle-relief arm who can go for multiple innings, and threw up 17 starts in 2015. He's Lugo or Gsellman, only with a more impressive track record. You're trying to win, and you're not going to spend any more money on a starter, or an offensive lineup upgrade? You don't have 7-8 guys better than Warren? Gimme Warren.
5. How are the Braves below 84.5 in this market? Is the Hotlanta betting action that slow? I hope for over. I feel the under.
6. Edgy MD wrote: Buster Posey could certainly work. Adam Jones could captain the sinking ship in Baltimore. Alex Gordon, how about you? You've been with the Royals over a decade and play both infield and outfield. José Altuve isn't yet 29, but I'd make him Houston's captain on general principle, because he's a total badass. Adam Jones is a FA, IIRC. But Posey and Altuve are definite contenders. Joey Votto would also be a possibility, no? And-- maybe the most obvious candidate of all (if personally difficult to admit)-- Yadier F. Molina.
7. That Piazza HoF banner lurking in the background set dressing marks our boy Peter Parker as the MCU's sports-allegiance moral center, in the official trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home.
8. [Clapclapclapclap] About as adorable as a grown baseball dude gets, without being three feet tall, panda-fat, and/or covered in fur.
9. Willets Point wrote: "Uh, Mr. Stark, I - I'm actually feeling much better!" "Mr. Stark? Mr. Stark? Where'd you go, Mr. Stark?" Look closely. Pepper's signing the checks, Happy's all angry, and ain't no Tony in sight.
10. I would decidedly NOT rather have Tebow than Broxton on my roster. Do we want Pollock because he's Pollock? Or do we want him because he's... something?
11. I'm a bit irked at the price. A lot of knowledgeable folks had him at 24 or so for TWO years. I think I'd have rather had him than good ol' Hyoo-rees, frankly.
12. Frayed Knot wrote: Yasmani Grandal explaining why (without mentioning the NYM offer in particular) he rejected any multi-year offer(s?): "My agent and I kinda sexed the Scottish terrier."
13. Y'know, Lowrie was primarily a SS until very recently. There's a significant non-zero chance that Amed sits in favor of BVW's Jedi bud.
14. =HahnSolo post_id=1269 time=1547667657 user_id=63] A full press conference for Jed Lowrie seems a bit much, or is that just me?
15. Kiddie camp commitments and uncertain work schedule make this... tricky. Maybe 2 or 3 games of indeterminate type.
16. If Frazier gives you anything with the bat, Alonso handles himself decently, and Rosario shows even mild offensive improvement... this becomes a very interesting lineup.
17. Having slept (some) on it... if Lowrie stays healthy, this is actually a GREAT deal. Since 2017, he's made Murphy-ish late-career loft/hard-contact rate strides. He's insurance at both corners (in case Alonso is ready, e.g.) AND Rosario caddy in addition to another 2B body. If Frazier moves, cool. If not... will we complain if 6 mostly-vet guys get 400-plus PAs a piece? (Or 500 x 5, and 300 for whomever at 1B?)
18. =Fman99 post_id=865 time=1546998149 user_id=86] Hector Santiago, late of the ChiSox, apparently has signed a minor league deal.
19. Guys! It's all FINE! WE JUST GOT KEON!!1!11!
20. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Speed, power and whiffs. I think he's a good defensive guy, though. Certainly not good for all you Lagares fans Maybe they just like Johnny Lags SO much, they just wanted an exact replica.
21. =Centerfield post_id=448 time=1546544007 user_id=65] I am maybe the only Asian who hasn't watched Crazy Rich Asians, but I did get it for Christmas, so I should get my Asian card back soon.
22. =metsmarathon post_id=563 time=1546631749 user_id=83] up was the movie where you realize that pixar has learned to weaponize all the feels.
23. I would take Marwin, Asdrubal and a better class of bullpen arm (Ottovino, e.g.) in lieu of a "big name" like Machado or Harper or Pollock.
