  1. Beating up on bad bullpens seems to be a feature of this team that I like.
  2. [Harumph.] Long time NJ resident. I laugh at your quibbles. Real Jerseyans know where to park and don't care about tolls because we have EZ-Pass. We know that the best cheesesteak sandwiches are actually in Camden, not Philly. We know that the Jets and Giants play in New Jersey despite what their helmets say. Everyone else has a beach, we have The Shore. Atlantic City is run by good old-fashioned mobsters, not people pretending to be Native Americans. Mets baseball is freely available anywhere, all the time. We have freedom to move around, unlike those trapped on Long Island with its NYC choke point. We don't live in or near Red Sox Nation. And we don't live in upstate New York where summer is two months long.[/Harumph.] Rutgers can be as good or bad as you make it, like any other state school. I'm currently taking a Rutgers Extension course and it's quite good.
  3. 7 game lead as Braves, Phillies and Marlins all lost.
  4. https://reellibrarians.files.wordpress.com/2017/07/ghostbusterscardcatalogdrawers.jpg?w=768> BOOKAROONIES!!!
  5. Soto just stood there for a really long time contemplating his foul out on one pitch.
  6. I just realized I've got tickets to the June 1st game (it's a gay dame) against the Nats. Imagine there'll be some reminiscing on the scoreboard for the 10th anniversary.
  7. =bmfc1 post_id=91792 time=1652190569 user_id=73] Pete and JD each have 4 bombs against Corbin
  8. Well, they're not going to score 7 runs in the 9th every night. If they score only 5, then we're talking about a 'Mets are finally coming back to earth' moment. This season so far is eerily paralleling 2021. Off to a good start and everyone else in the division is scuffling below .500. Megill, while good so far, is bound to hit a wall at some point. Carrasco is a box of chocolates. So is Walker. DeGrom is off in some hazy future somewhere. They're not really hitting for power. Even Alonso is a tick below par; singles to right-center aren't why he gets to do CarShield commercials. Hoping they break out when the weather warms, but it's a concern.
  9. Six games up on the Braves and Marlins. More of this please.
  10. Boy, I'd like to say that a 6-1 lead in the 8th is a lock, but ya know...............
  11. I am a bad Met fan. 7-1 late, I turned it off. Woke up this morning to the news. DVR'ing the replay on SNY. Bad, bad Met fan. Bad.
  12. After tonight the weather gets progressively worse. Will probably be a rainout somewhere along the line.
  13. Yeah, gotta flush this one away and be on point for this DH. Not excited about a Carrasco/Peterson duo but you gotta do what you gotta do. Hope they have their hitting shoes on today.
  14. Pete Alonso leaves no baseball cliche unused as he shills for Carshield.
  15. I didn't think they'd do it, but holy hell this was the right move. Nice to have an owner who can eat $40 million like it was tip money. Things are a lot more rational now in the lineup and DH rotation. This team just got better.
  16. Frayed Knot wrote: As I've said before, ESPN doesn't think we tune in to watch baseball. ESPN thinks we tune in to watch ESPN. Precisely. They think we care more about the announcers than the game.
  17. ESPN games are all about irrelevancies. David Cone giving his Cy Young to his dad has nothing to do with the game at hand. And talking to Lindor while he's on the field is madness. I'm sure Buck had a shit fit about that one but was told to sit down and shut up. They don't really know what makes these teams tick, so they fill the time that could be spent giving you relevant information and analysis with 'personal stories' instead. Nothing makes you appreciate Gary, Keith and Ron more than a broadcast like this. Even when GKR take their detours for funny/silly/personal stuff, they never lose their focus on the game being played in front of them. 3 weeks? That'll give me enough time to figure out how to synch Howie and Wayne to the TV picture.
  18. Dom reminds us that he's better than Cano, at least.
  19. DON'T TALK TO OUR SHORTSTOP WHILE HE"S PLAYING THE FIELD!!!!!! This is insane and if he makes an error, I blame ESPN.
  20. Scratching out a pair of runs is nice.
  21. Scherzer, always prone to the home run ball.
  22. This will have the 'Kay-Rod' simulcast on ESPN 2, because who better to call a Met game than a Yankee announcer and a Yankee steroid abuser. Over/under on first Jeter reference is 29 1/2 minutes.
  23. Well, this explains a lot. Jacob is going to be this year's Hallmark baseball ornament. I swear, whoever gets picked for a Hallmark ornament is cursed. Last year, for example, it was Ronald Acuna Jr. https://www.hookedonhallmark.com/2022-Jacob-deGrom-New-York-Mets--Ships-OCT-7_p_45827.htmlhttps://www.hookedonhallmark.com/2022-Jacob-deGrom-New-York-Mets--Ships-OCT-7_p_45827.html You hang it up and the arm falls off.
