  1. On the plus side, at least there's no black on it.
  2. Once McCarver was separated from the Mets gig, he started to go downhill. Zabriskie, McCarver and Kiner were the best announcing team up until GKR. All due respect to Murph/Lindsey/Ralph, but the team in the 80's made it FUN to listen. Once Tim was Foxified, he would parachute into games with a pre-programmed storyline that he was going to hammer away at incessantly regardless of the results. "Despite the fact he lost 14-0 today, Roger Clemens is one of the all-time greats." That and the Derek Jeter worship drove me nuts. He could be broadcasting a Cardinals-Cubs game and he'd find a way to bring up The Captain. Imagine, if you will, Tim McCarver in bed after sex: She: "Hey, baby, was it good for you?" Tim: "Yeah, but you're no Derek Jeter."
  3. 68-94. Fifth place (yes, behind the Marlins) Obviously no. Obviously no.

  5. Baseball's Buttafuoco. Ouch.
  6. Zvon wrote: How and why does it jump from 3-5 days to opening day and the DL (in the same statement)? We have enough doom and gloom to contend with without people using their imagination. Because all Met injuries multiply by a factor of 10. Ike Davis twisted his ankle and was out for the season due to this little-known codicil to the Metropolitan Disabled List.
  7. First time I've seen Jordany get to three balls in an at-bat this year.
  8. Sorry, but I just can't get this out of my mind.....
  9. Doesn't go north with the team, making burritos at Qdoba by June.
  10. Well, you had me until he killed Wolfman Jack with a trident. Then I knew you were kidding.
  11. Desperate and pathetic. I love it.
  12. The strangeness emanates almost entirely from the Wilpon family, a flubby Long Island real estate dynasty in full Hapsburgian decline. What a deliciously over-the-top but painfully true sentence. I didn't think it was possible to get 'flubby' so close to 'Hapsburgian'.
  13. He needs to mutate into Butch Heddo, the bad guy from the movie Rookie of the Year.
  14. Zvon wrote: and including his new sidekick, Valdesac. Thanks for making the soda come out through my nose.
  15. Edgy MD wrote: vtmet wrote: I thought that wins (for pitchers), runs/RBI (for batters) were "team" stats and the individual player/batter has no bearing on these outcomes... According to whom? Of course they have a bearing. These numbers are just deceptively circumstantially dependent, doesn't mean he or she doesn't have a big part in obtaining them, but players can only capitalize on the opportunities they are given, and these aren't equal. She? Did I miss something?
  16. I'm guessing that the Yankees will win 95 games and the division just to annoy me (and the writer).
  17. He'll have a good year but be doomed by a weak offense and an unhelpful bullpen. 11-9, 3.50 180 IP/170K
  18. batmagadanleadoff wrote: 24-3, 269 K's, 2.11 ERA, 8 shutouts. Back to back Cy Young Awards for Met hurlers. So then the question is.....who do they trade him for?
  19. Mediocre. 8-13, 4.75 180 IP, stays in the rotation as filler.
  20. I'd bet 16 wins for Dickey easily, since the AL hasn't seen the perfected knuckleball. And Reyes will have a great year because he'll be pissed. .300 with 50 steals and 110 runs scored.
  21. Gets blind drunk and does drugs with a stewardess, but manages to get himself together and take off from Orlando but encounters turbulence and mechanical failure which he combats by flipping the plane over and flying it upside down. Saves most of the passengers but is charged with flying while intoxicated. Suspended without pay by the Wilpons and never pitches for them again.
  22. Great Time. Great Place. Great Mammaries.
  23. "Do you prefer Italian or Chinese?" New Yorks wannabe cannibal cop was Mike Baxters high school teammate Matthew Pouliot Feb 27, 2013, 12:01 PM EST 16 Comments Mike Baxter Getty Images Mike Baxter and Gilberto Valle combined to man the left side of New York City high school Archbishop Molloys infield in 2002. One went on to play outfield for the New York Mets. The other has been charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping after online chats indicated his desire to cook and eat women. The connection between the two was first revealed a few months back, but Baxter got asked about it today and issued a no comment. NYMag.com points out that the 2002 squad featuring Baxter at shortstop and Valle at third won the NYC title and was ranked No. 3 in the East region by USA TODAY. Valle, a six-year member of the NYPD, is on trial in New York. An FBI agent testified Tuesday on Valles reported plans, which included roasting a girls arm on a barbecue and longing for the day i cram a chloroform soaked rag in her face.
  24. In a move that screams out; 'yeah, despite being one of the games highest paid players for nearly a decade, I managed to spend it even faster and therefore desperately need the dough', Manny Ramirez signs on to play in Taiwan. Just ?: ??: ?? being ?: ??: ??.
  25. Great Time- what, more day games? Great Place- to get a new transmission for your '84 Firebird. Great Memories- Geez, I already wake up in the middle of the night screaming. What else can they do to me?
