  1. Ya know, I'd be rooting for St Loo to hold on. The Mets held their own against the Cards this year while getting annihilated by both the Pirates and Cubs. Having those two face each other in the knockout game is a good thing.
  2. Even if Fulmer becomes an ace, I still do the deal. Cespedes electrified this offense. Yes, he had help, but it all fell into place with his acquisition. And yes, even if he walks. They grabbed for the brass ring, and they didn't give up someone who figured into their short-range plans.

It would require the Mets continuing their winning streak for five more games while the Nats lose at least 5 of their 6 games. From the "Take Back the City" perspective it would be cool to clinch while playing the Yankees. On the downside there were probably be a ton of Yankees fans with tickets to the game, so that would limit the number of Mets fans who could be in attendance. So I'd be content with kicking the pants of the Yankees and the Mets clinching against the Braves in front of a stadium full of Mets fans. Plus that Sunday game against the Yankees is on ESPN. I want Gary, Keith and Ron doing the clincher.
  4. I should be fired for starting this thread.
  5. You know, the fact that he doesn't walk much is killing his OPS. (I kid, I kid.)
  6. Those Mets could be no-hit. THESE Mets, not so much.

  9. Baseball's not supposed to be this easy.
  10. Okay, I take it all back. "Hsiw Esrevrep Ym!!!! Expellioso!" By the power of the great Wizard Sedepsec I make this thread vanish!
  11. Matz I need to see a little more of (even though I went with him). He's been okay, but not lights out. But he's a lefty and if there's one person who should NOT be the 4th starter, it's Niese. Colon you get the feeling will do whatever it takes. Start, relieve, bring candy to the bullpen, whatever. An excellent guy to have. And if Boras decides Harvey shouldn't start in the NLCS, he can slot right in.
  12. Seems like even when it's over, it's not over.
  13. Shortstop depth chart: Flores Tejada Uribe Johnson Wright deGrom Six deep. No worries.
  14. I was a kid in 1969. I thought every year would be like that. Little did I know the scar tissue and frustration I would accumulate in the intervening 46 years. So when the good times come, I'm happy to drink from the fire hose.
  15. I keep waiting for him to come back to earth. But he doesn't. You can't sustain an RBI-per-game pace. Yet he does.
  16. Only 8 in the loss column, though. Tonight was the first time I allowed myself to say out loud in front of witnesses, "Yeah, they've got this."
  17. Not bad for a guy who'll turn 95 next Saturday.
  18. Boy, walk FFF and pitch to everybody else. Braves have nothing.
  19. Wright sits, Uribe has 3 RBI. d'Arnaud sits, Plawecki has 3 RBI. Someone should ask Collins for his NFL picks for the weekend.
  20. It was a hanging slider. Had to swing.
  21. I love when Colon stands on the mound, playfully tossing the ball up in the air and catching it, like a man who doesn't have a care in the world. He's seen it all and done it all. This is just gravy. (Mmmmmmm.......gravy) He's the exact opposite of Drew Storen, who, to quote Ferris Bueller, "If you shoved a lump of coal up his ass, in two weeks you'd have a diamond."
  22. This was like a West Coast game so I didn't make it to the end. But a nice thing to wake up to.
  23. Edgy MD wrote: I had some gastric pain last weekend where it seemed like I was trying to personally eliminate Atlanta. Don't ask. Probably should have taken some Mylanta.
