1. I guess Uncle Steve needs the money.
2. The salami is tasty this evening.
3. Um....interesting lineup. Peterson better be on point tonight.
4. Lindor needs to fast-forward to June 1.
5. I'd like to see Senger get a start in one of those Marlins games. Live the dream, Hayden.
6. So which Diaz will show up tonight?
7. NICE job by Garrett there.
8. At least the letters of the names on the back are the right size again.
9. Lindor made multitasking look easy during that interview. Nice Soto laser to make it 3-0. Megill gets out of a sticky situation pretty nicely to leave it at 3-1. Having Wayne Randazzo doing play-by-play makes Apple baseball more tolerable.
10. Happy Opening Day! https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:jmaakni5kh4twhgfzk2apojr/bafkreigllrj4aacrtcepi5rfsc476txal644kgh5ueqjhqs3lt4khg6cla@jpeg>
11. A mere waterbug skimming across the pond of the 2025 season, leaving nary a ripple. 0-2 6.75.
12. Still think it's a dumb idea. It's also, as noted, been done many other times in many other places. How about something original?
13. Omigod this is unimaginably stupid. I'm guessing from the looks of the outfits that every one of them will trip at least once before reaching the finish line.
14. =whippoorwill post_id=187861 time=1742941552 user_id=79] I wouldn't have gotten near Ben Franklin with a 10 foot pole. Yuck.
15. Boy, fire and ice is it. He'll have 30 saves, but he'll blow 5 or 6 too. I'll be biting my nails every time he takes the mound. And NEVER let him pitch 3 days in a row.
16. The last time I was overconfident was 2023, when they were coming off a 101-win season and signed a Hall of Famer in Justin Verlander. That all fell apart very quickly.
17. Well, the game's changed in 25 years, so comparisons are shaky at best. Yes, I picked them for a losing season last year, and for the first 2 1/2 months I was spot on. Then they brought up Iglesias and Vientos, activated Peterson, Lindor got hot and they went on a run none of us envisioned. I don't see that sort of thing happening two years in a row. Could everything perfectly fall into place like it did last year? Sure, it's possible, I just don't think it's likely.
18. My rating would have been higher if they'd actually signed some decent pitching. They signed Manaea back but the rest was retreads or trash. Frankie Montas? Griffin Canning? Ryne Stanek? There were pitchers out there for the taking but they didn't take them. If they hadn't signed Alonso, they would have moved Vientos to first and let Baty play 3rd, or snagged some other 3b, or maybe resigned Iglesias, who knows. If they hadn't signed Alonso or Soto, it'd be a 70- win team that would have been pounded in the NL east. As it is, Senga's coming off a year of inactivity, Manaea and Montas are hurt, your Opening Day starter hasn't started a game in 7 years, Canning is a guy even the Angels didn't want, and Tylor Megill is back for his 27th time trying to win a spot in the rotation by default. McNeil and Alvarez are already going to be out at least a month and Nimmo and Marte are hobbled. Maybe Stearns is a genius and I'm not seeing it. I wouldn't be surprised if the bullpen isn't burned out by the end of April. I'd love to be wrong, but this looks like an incomplete team. I'm sure Soto and Lindor will have great years, but they can't do it alone.
19. Jeff was one of the few players who actually benefited from the defensive shift in baseball. He could hit it the other way when he wanted, and all those singles through the left side in 22 became 6-3 putouts in 23 and 24. He didn't adapt. He's pretty ornery, so I don't expect him to change his approach in 25, with predictable results.
20. I think he'll spend the whole season in the 'Cuse and get a cuppa in September. Stats will be insignificant.
21. 1) 79-83. Not enough pitching. Sorry, Juan. 2) Braves, Phils, Mets, Nats, Marlins 3) Playoffs? No. 4) See 3). 5) Dodgers go back to back. 6) 35 Polar Pops. 7) Soto will do something awesome that'll be Stockholm-worthy.
22. McNeil being out means he'll see a lot of playing time early, and he'll be too good to send down. 8/40/.295 and 20 steals.
23. So who pitches games 2 & 3? Megill and TBD?
24. I always loved these....
