  1. Well, I knew it, too, and adjusted my Catch-22 accordingly. You can't miss half a year, do nothing and then expect everything will be OK miraculously. There is something wrong with deGrom and he's not admitting it and/or the Mets medical staff is as incompetent as I think them to be.
  2. Aaaaaaaaaand here we go. Buck Showalter just said Jacob deGrom felt tightness in the back of his shoulder after playing catch today Showalter says he'd be “surprised” if deGrom makes his schedule spring start tomorrow. DeGrom might go for preliminary imaging in morning but Showalter said we'll see
  3. I'd just like to say that Craig Bjornson looks like he accidentally walked into the ladies dressing room at Loehmann's.
  4. He's been declining the last few years, but he'll turn it around a bit. 25 HR, 80 RBI, .280
  5. Not buying the miraculous recovery. When he pitches, he'll be great, but that won't be enough. 6-3, 2.20 in half a season. Could be 9-0 but weak offense/bad bullpen will blow a few for him as per usual. And he'll watch the postseason from his couch.
  6. Hope that's not your opening line.....
  7. Olbermann's both a shrewd observer and an asshole. That's his brand.
  8. Liked him, but there was no place for him on the 2022 Mets. Had more pop than I expected. Hope he does well except against us.
  9. I saw somewhere that Alonso said he was vaxxed. The reason it doesn't apply to visiting teams is because it's a mandate on New York employers. So, yes, it doesn't apply to visiting teams. Nimmo is going to lose a lot of fan goodwill really really fast if he refuses to play home games.
  10. Yeah, really surprised to see the Braves cut ties with Freddie. He better not wind up on the Yanx. Olson will probably torture us just as badly, though.
  11. Well, should be pretty obvious on April 15th. Hoping it was Conforto, Syndergaard, Pillar, Familia and Villar.
  12. Unvaccinated Yankees, Mets won't be allowed to play in home games https://nypost.com/2022/03/15/unvaccinated-yankees-mets-wont-be-allowed-to-play-in-home-games/https://nypost.com/2022/03/15/unvaccinated-yankees-mets-wont-be-allowed-to-play-in-home-games/ Mets were one of the teams below 85% vaccination last year.
  13. Schaefer or Rheingold would have been fun. Alas.
  14. It could be the strongest rotation in the game, but each pitcher has question marks: Scherzer, 38 and burned out in the playoffs DeGrom, who knows how healthy he is. Walker, suddenly lost effectiveness when they cracked down on sticky stuff. Carrasco, was hurt most of the time and pretty awful when he did pitch. Even Bassitt was hit in the face by a batted ball last year and only threw two innings after. Sooooooo, there's a lot of finger crossing going on here.
  15. He's a FA next year, but I'm good with this. It rounds out the rotation nicely. It's an all right-handed rotation, though, which isn't optimal.
  16. Can't wait to beat him on a couple of squibs and a couple of walks. I never trusted Familia, and he's going to find out how rough Philly fans can be. That said, Mets need more BP help.
  17. Edgy MD wrote: Man, you don't know how things will change, but a division of the Jays, Sox, Yankees, and Orioles could be brutal for Baltimore. Easier than a division of the Jays, Sox, Yankees, Rays and Orioles.
  18. 2 years, $44 million. That's more than I would have given him given his injury history, but we're off to the races.
  19. Can I just say how happy I am to be scouring baseball sites for news rather than checking to see if Volodomyr Zelinsky is still alive? (As of this writing, he still is) They're stuck with Cano, regardless of how bad he is, unless Uncle Steve wants to eat like $40 million. Left Handed reliever is a must. I think a lot of guys will be signing short- or one-year deals just to get onto a team as quickly as possible.
  20. =metsmarathon post_id=86803 time=1647004980 user_id=83] at this point, while i would love to see one of those hitters signing with the mets, i think it's more liklely that, if we're going to add more free agents, it'd be a carlos rodon. super-outside chance we take a chance on kershaw, though that's perhaps wishful thinking, and of wanting to see 8 cy young awards on one staff. i think a trade is most likely, with two of dom, jeff, and jd going somewhere like cincinnati or oakland in return for an arm. which could, well, open up some room in the lineup too...
  21. Not looking forward to playing every team in the AL every year unless it means playing fewer games against the Yanx.
  22. Just glad they got it done. Going to be an absolute free-agent FRENZY starting almost immediately. Hope Uncle Steve has his wallet open.
  23. Pretty obvious that the owners are looking for total capitulation on the part of the players. They may get it, at the cost of a significant amount of the season, and a significant amount of the fan base. All they care about is the postseason money and with expanded playoffs that'll be there regardless of how much of the regular season they miss. Just a reminder that this is a lockout, not a strike. Or if you prefer, a strike by the owners.
  24. I'd say split the difference and get on with it, but the owners have been much less willing to budge on the numbers than the players have. And they seem to be in no rush to start the season. So if there's a dick award it goes to the owners.
