Benjamin Grimm wrote: New content released today: http://leaptoad.com/mets/scrapbook.php?tabno=D&release=1Expansion Draft, Tim Foli, Shea Goodbye Coverage of the 1961 expansion draft which provided the Mets with their first batch of players. Spotlight on Tim Foli. The Mets made him the first draft pick in the nation in 1968. Shea Goodbye! The final game ever played at Shea Stadium ended the Mets' postseason hopes, but was followed by a star-studded ceremony. Polo Goodbye! The final game ever played at the Polo Grounds had no fanfare at all and very few fans in attendance. Now Straw's the Man Who Stirs the Mets: A Joe Gergen column from Newsday in 1988. Darryl Strawberry is coming into his own as a superstar. From 1969, Bruce Stark portraits of Tom Seaver and Cleon Jones. Obituaries of Bill Robinson and Clem Labine. I'll be checking this out. Always liked Tim Foli; maybe because he wore glasses
  3. I googled him. Sounds like a sad tale, reminiscent of Sammy Khalifa, but not THAT sad
  4. Love it!
  5. Yay but can he be traded if he goes back to sucking?
  6. Nice!

  10. [Justin Turner] says he'd be open to a return to New York. https://metsmerizedonline.com/justin-turner-open-to-idea-of-return-to-mets/https://metsmerizedonline.com/justin-turner-open-to-idea-of-return-to-mets/ Bob Aspromonte would also be open to returning to the Mets, especially if the Mets paid him the usual oodles of millions that veterans typically make. Lol
  11. I'll bet a box of Rice a Roni the Gil Hodges cover goes far
  12. =Fman99 post_id=112279 time=1667384311 user_id=86] No action shots in this batch BOOOOO Why did the Daily News put clown make up on him? That's just bizarre.
  13. Christie is a board member? I might turn down that Mets job now.
  14. Game Face because of that cute little inset
  15. He has a dog named Willow
  16. Yeah that whole job description seemed kinda much for one person to do a thoroughly good job
  17. That's funny; I got an instant reply and I'm even older than you. And no degree at all!
  18. Plus I have a niece in Philly. Not sure she'd care but she's always up for a party and I'm sure she'll find one if they win lol
  19. I'll be rooting (such as it is) because I'm still not over the 1986 Astros
  20. Love this little cat. Mr first exposure to Keye and Peale as well Thought the movie was kinda lame but I did become a big fan of theirs. And the little cat too
  21. I guess he was running in case it was fair
  22. Refresh my memory. Why was Piazza going to first base on a foul ball?
  23. I feel the same about Judge that I do about deGrom….don't put all your spending $$$ in one guy
  24. The Hot Corner wrote: With all the holes that the Mets will need to address this offseason, I believe it is foolish to commit too heavily to any one individual such that the team can not adequately afford to fill the remaining holes. It's nice to believe there is no limitation on what the Mets can afford to spend in order to build the team for 2023 and beyond. However, I do not think it is realistic to believe that funds are limitless. Yes, Steve Cohen is enormously wealthy, but he, as do virtually all businesses and individuals have budgets. To think the funds available to the Mets are virtually limitless is folly. I definitely would keep all lines of communication open with DeGrom, but if retaining him for 3-4 years costs so much that the Mets are unable to address Nimmo, Diaz, multiple openings in the rotation, an upgrade at catcher, and some bullpen help, then it is better to let him walk in my view. Bravo!
