  1. Any relation to Patchy?
  2. Can't leave Oliver off. I also don't see Ledee sticking around.
  3. No ballplayer of note was born on my birthday, and I refuse to get excited about Chien-Ming Wang.
  4. Oliver Perezis 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA in his last two starts at Triple-A Norfolk, allowing six hits in 13 innings. The left-hander took a no-hitter into the seventh inning on Saturday in the Tides' 1-0 win over the Charlotte Knights. Perez, who turned 25 on Tuesday, gave up a single and two walks in the game, while striking out 11 before leaving after the seventh.
  5. The way I figure it, Omar can't be relied upon, because look at the mess he's gotten the Mets into already. A real general manager would have them 30 games in front. So why should we assume that he maybe sees something in Lastings Milledge that a little big league seasoning may bring out?
  6. Too early to assign Milledge to the dustbin, and Endy Chavez has done nothing but produce.
  7. ]Spanish grammar says you accent the second syllable from the end of a word, unless there is an accent written over the vowel in the last syllable. Is this right for Spanish? I know it's right for Italian. My mother, who was a stickler for correct pronunciation of all things Italian, used to bristle when anyone talked about the Isle of Ca-PREE.
  8. My feeling is that if you want to be a major leaguer, you try harder under those circumstances, not less hard. If you don't make it with the Mets, you make it with someone. That's why Endy Chavez and Jose Valentin are getting the playing time.
  9. Marty Noble: Diaz is having a poor season in Triple-A -- a .223 batting average with 23 extra base hits in 346 at-bats. The Mets message is a very audible "No." Diaz's work ethic and attitude seem to be affected by the level to which he is assigned. He doesn't appear to be a hungry player and seemingly has no future with the Mets -- Minor Leagues or big leagues. A resemblance to Manny hasn't helped. And he has been a player without a position almost his entire career.
  10. NY to Washington, I'd opt for the train every time.
  11. ]Mole: >>>...and we leave it like this?<<< Leave what like what? I realize my remark made no sense at all. I came on here about twenty minutes after the game ended, and getalife must have somehow held up a whole bunch of messages, because the last note I saw still had the Mets and Billy looking for the third out. So I post mine, and suddenly it's at the end of all those other notes.
  12. Congratulations to Beltran for being nominated, but is there anything weird about this award being sponsored by Viagra?
  13. And for Dwight Gooden...I Fought the Law and the Law Won
  14. His BA isn't so bad -- two-ninety-something, isn't it?
  15. ]Even before posing in the buff, Sonia, now 34, had her heart set on being a performer. She led her high school dance team and went on to work at a Hooters restaurant - landing a coveted spot in the 2001 Hooters calendar.
  16. The Mets win! They win the damn thing!"
  17. I still like this team.
  18. I always liked his mispronounced sponsor, "Nobody beats the Whiz." And that he took pride in always using correct grammar on the air,
  19. Bob was always great. But it was when the Mets broke up their original triumvirate, and Bob switched to radio only, that I came to appreciate just how great he was.
  20. ] Heading down to Binghamton to take his place is floundering prospect Joe Hietpas He needs his mom.
  21. Maine and El Duque the top two pitchers.
  22. You guys get devastated way too easily.
