  1. ...between now and Wednesday?
  2. I agree, sort of. Except that this particular team is built around a strategy that involves starters going six. It sort of offends my old-fashioned, Kinerian sense of the game, which says that there's no reason a started can't finish a game. Or it would, if the Mets weren't doing it and making it work. As it is -- GO BULLPEN!
  3. I'm with Rotblatt. Perez always has a chance to be brilliant, although the others probably have more of a chance to be capable. I'm going with the idea that Willie and Peterson have seen something in Perez, and in spite of the general consensus here that Willie and Peterson are idiots, to quote the immortal words of Captain Louis Renault: ]We musn't underestimate American blundering. I was with them when they blundered into Berlin in 1918.
  4. I was at my laptop in bed (I've had the flu) but I turned the laptop off when Mrs. Mole came to bed.
  5. For pretty much Yancy's reasons, plus I have a general tendency that where there's not a stronger rooting influences, I root for the original teams. Except the Yankees, of course.
  6. Just want everyone to know that I couldn't be at the computer for the whole game, but I was at the TV for the whole game. Life is good.
  7. Let fly now, don't pay later.
  8. Let's hope we don't pay for that.
  9. Such a good play by Lofton. Damn it.
  10. Is the Met game on the same channel, or do I have to look for the remote?
  11. How sweet it is.
  12. Did you ever see such glum, perfunctory high-fiving in a dugout?
  13. I should mention here that on the news discussion BB that I run, I have been getting constant flak from a curmudgeonly conservative Yankee fan, for saying "This has to be the result they were hoping for," when in fact that was open to question (Well, the CCYF thought I was totally wrong, but that's another story). So I answered him, "I was speaking colloquially, as in 'this has to be the prettiest sunset I've ever seen,' or 'this has to be the most humiliating defeat the Yankees have ever suffered.'"
  14. Why not let him go for the complete game? But I'm not complaining.
  15. Listen to that ovation for the kid. I can't believe they cut it so short to go to a commercial.
  16. Damn...so close. But I'm still happy.
  17. And having them get a runner to third with nobody out and then strand him would be especially sweet.
  18. Hey, tighten it up, guys -- I want to see them shut out.
  19. Every play, every inning, twists the knife a little more.
  20. What I love about this game is that the MFY's are not just being beaten, not just being eliminated...they're being humiliated. And not just humiliated...the humiliation grows deeper every inning.
