Check with a neurologist about that! Yeah, not a big day for A-teamers to get on the bus. They should probably have two games a day, with a home squad and a travel squad, to allow everybody to get their appearances in during the foreshortened spring. The Yankees moving a big leaguer for minor league talent on the eve of the season probably isn't unprecedented, but it feels unprecedented.

I'm blacked out against the Nats and O's which averages to about 20 games a year between them. I don't get it. I pay for a streaming service, I watch the commercials, and I sing the jingles. What's the problem?

"I suck beyond suckage."

Brandon Nimmo is, perpetually, like seven years old. Francisco Lindor seems like every day is his birthday and he just got surprised. Jacob deGrom is the very best pitcher on earth — a remarkable blend of stuff, approach, mechanics, preparation, and execution — and if it's turned him into asshole, nobody's noticed it yet. Most folks in baseball like Buck Showalter, too. Rusty Staub would cry if you left. Beyond that, go ahead and root like heck for the Buccaroonies. It should only create a conflict six days a year.

Third on the 2021ers in games, third in plate appearances, second in at-bats. Tops in stolen bases!

Yeah, he had the presence of Pillar working against him when it came to getting a correct pronunciation. Also, the anglophone first name could trick the brain, steering it away from the instinct to pronounce the LL in the Spanish manner. Keith can be a little lazy about getting pronunciations right, but he's generally cool about stepping up with an apology when he catches himself, or a partner catches him.

Forever working on that knuckleball. https://image.invaluable.com/housePhotos/TScollectibles/61/710961/H22549-L269475089.jpg>

The Cubs jumped on Seiya Suzuki, too, who wasn't a Met, but was gaining some emotional traction in regions including the outlying areas of my house. I never got a confirmation that 65 was for 65ELLMAN, but I'm sticking with that until I hear otherwise, even though he shed that number in 2021. He won a Mets minor league award and Lunchie looked at his pitching line and lamented there weren't enough gstrikeouts. The beard and the locks always kind of gave the impression that he was trying to be somebody else, even wearing a manbun at times, but he was good athlete and good pitcher when healthy. Pretty hittable when he wasn't 100%. A good eye as a batter, too, although that'll happen when the team won't let you swing for long periods of time.

=Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=87199 time=1647478018 user_id=119]Zack Greinke has agreed to a contract to return to the Kansas City Royals, per The Athletic. The deal is for one year and $13 million.

Also the World Series MVP in 1962. In my imaginary United States Cup bracket tournament of teams representing their states, the mid-century squad of Oklahomans would be formidable every year, with the Mantle brothers, Terry, Cal McLish, Alvin Dark, Allie Reynolds, and Jim Beauchamp, among others. Heck, they might've gotten even better after Mantle's retirement, with Johnny Bench and Willie Stargell taking over.

That's great.

More importantly, how many didn't get vaccinated, got Covid, experienced mild or no symptoms, shrugged about all the fuss, but took the time to pass it on to a half dozen people who soon spread it to God-knows-how-many?

Even more optimistically would be that Scherzer is locked in, and no other batter could have touched those pitches.

Or ... they got some ugly dirt on the Fredster!

Well, I missed that line item. Nellie Cruz is as DH-y as they come.

Leadership just pours out of that guy. It's like he wakes up in the morning and he can't stop leading.

It'll take a lot of maneuvering to remake their roster around him. He smells like he's going to the Nats to me, sliding in at first base with Josh Bell moving to DH.

I am perpetually gun shy of Japanese position players who make the jump to the U.S. It's the Kaz Matsui effect I guess. I have free agent signing envy here. C'mon Unkie Steve, go get us another bat ! You can't shy away at the beginning of the evening and then get all hot under the collar when somebody else as her number at the end of the night! You've got to get in the game! Go in early and go in hard! "Hi, I'm FMan. I just want to say that I noticed that you're Japanese and I'm totally OK with that." I assume those numbers up above don't include what the Cubs are paying as a posting fee.

Seems like pretty good value to me.

The Mets grabbed Santos off the waiver wire back in November, so to be able to claim a guy another team is waiving, but to then yourself then get him through waivers and off the roster and into your minor league system, well, that's like finding money. Now let's hope his brutal Colorado statistics aren't an indicator of who he actually is. And now, we at last have our Spring Training Invites list!!! Sandy always wanted to invite only guys who had a realistic, non-bus-crash chance of making the team. And I guess a shorter spring means there's less time to look at a lot of people, but I'd like to see more starting pitchers in the mix here. Also, did Johneshwy's invite get lost between the cushions or something?

I'd bet that McNeil doesn't actually think there are any particular concerns with the vaccine. He's just against it because fuck you, that's why.

Yeah, I figure this is an attempt to use Covid as an excuse to avoid something that's perhaps less-than-desireable to owners and management.

While I certainly agree, has anybody tried to lay out the process by which this rule ameliorates health and safety concerns?
