1. DeGrom gives up a run, apparently having way too much fun out there.
2. Tomás Nido goes opposite field to raise the Mets lead from 1-0 to 3-0. Here comes Starling!
3. Two curves in a row, and deGrom gives up a single and laughs about it. If Marty can't bat, Conforto is looking better.
4. Three strikeouts in the first for deGoomie, and the ump checks his glove.
5. Is that a debut for Marte? And he's batting lasties?
6. Bad execution indeed. I would agree. There's seemingly this notion that if the percentages are there, the appropriate amount of runs will come out in the end, and presumably the appropriate amount of wins. I find that frustrating as hell. Plate that runner.
7. That would be the third team he will have had two tours of duty with.
8. You play 15 games and what you get? Two errors can hurt, at least it seems a safe bet. Charge the runs to Davis, 'cuz he can't throw! And there's that .100 average for Pete Alonso!
9. It's an argument that WRC+ is kind of not as representative as all that. Something of a Frankenstat. Obviously it was representative for most of those teams, but 2020 was a small sample size (the shortest season since 1873), and the Mets were first in GiDP, among other things. You can argue that it's bad luck or bad execution, but man, what a waste. But man, I know it makes me an old man, but that guy's tone made me want to break stuff.
10. Two Cuban mysteries to ponder. Who knows how rusty their skills might have gotten? Who knows if they had them to begin with? But the Mets clearly suspect they might. Since 2017, Paz has passed through Guyana, Brazil, Uruguay, Panama, Haiti, and ultimately, The Dominican Republic.
11. The thingalinga is that some athletes may well be fully vaccinated, but feel that revealing their status indirectly outs their unvaccinated teammates. I wish I could say that this was a morally superior position to going unvaccinated, and it may feel as such, but it is only kinda.
12. That would be cool. I'll rent the pickup truck.
13. Before last night's exhibition game against the Marlins was over, this happened.

Schugel was signed away from this same Milwaukee team 22 months ago, and now he's a Milkman once again, as things come full circle. His dad is a big league scout for the Reds.
15. Please let it be Justin Turner.
16. Cool game. It took me seven guesses to get XXXXXXX, who I know as well as any player. Some of the information is off, like they didn't have YYYY listed with his new team, so I guess it's locked into the end of last season. They also gave me a yellow tile for the position of a player I guessed, but the correct player didn't seem to have a position adjacent to that one or anything. Still, excellent game. I'm playing again tomorry.
17. Three-run double by J.D. Davis clears the bases. Mets up 6-1 in the third, still with nobody out.
18. Two really impressive plays to watch in third inning. On the first one, Jeff McNeil fields a bouncer on the shortstop side of second, he briefly thinks of tossing it behind his back to Lindor, but the angle is bad and Chisholm is bearing down on second, so he instead rears back and throws it to first, uncharacteristically strong. The next batter drove the ball to the wall in center, and also uncharacteristically, Brandon Nimmo went back full-bore and caught up with the ball jumping into the fence a la Juan Lagares.
19. Jaycey Benita is a slender outfielder from Willemstad, Curaçao, debuting this year for the Mets, likely in the DSL, but possibly in the stateside rookie league, which I guess remains The Florida Complex League, as I haven't seen any notification that The Gulf Coast League is returning. https://extra.cw/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Jaycey-Benita-1024x684.jpg> What's that? You'd like to know if his name is short for anything? Sure. His full name is ... Miriojaycey-Rachidnycander Ray Jean Tadeo Benita.
20. You play fifteen games, and what do you get? Hayden Senger catching and he's barely a threat Is Marte in the lineup? Well the answer is NO! But Sean Reid-Foley is a-rarin' to throw! 21. There's almost nothing about this that's not at least a little bit insane.
22. Man, maybe there's something wrong with Conforto's cologne. The next-best outfielder on the market after him now is ... Brett Gardner?
23. Benjamin Grimm wrote: =nymr83 post_id=87570 time=1648079036 user_id=54] I'm glad to have less distractions around the Mets! I am too, but I have to admit I was very curious to see how this would have been handled. It would have been interesting, albeit infuriating.
24. You think it's in there by now, or this is just covering an empty pedestal? https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2022/03/seaver.jpg>
