My dad would have enjoyed the life out of it. He wasn't the biggest baseball fan, but he really dug riding a narrative, and this game had lots of 'em. Diaz' sliders in the ninth were unworldy. I realize he's grossly consistent, but when that slider is dancing like that it's like watching peak Lawrence Taylor or Michael Jordan. It's just unfair. It's a man playing with boys.
It's tough. Newsday objectively has the strongest, most arresting layout, but it doesn't really feature the principals, and in that sense, isn't really telling the story very strongly.
That's great. A reporter who sounded about 70 just said, "I'm from a newspaper in Puerto Rico, and this is my first ever time covering the Mets. Edwin, can you say something in Spanish about this game for all the fans back home?"
Buck Showalter: Somebody told me it's the first combined no-hitter in the history of the Mets. I mean, we're talking about 70+ years, right? Reporter: Sixty. Buck Showalter: Yeah, I knew that. I wanted to make sure you all were paying attention.
Taijuan Walker returns for the Mets, building on a no-hitter as they try to sink the Phils, now in third place, five games behind. Five games behind YOUR New York Mets. Phils starter Kyle Gibson has faced Colorado in both his last two starts.
