That's terrific. As I recall, it was a local scout who fell in love and was sending glorious reports in, but when a higher-level, broader-area, supervisor scout (was this Murff?) came into town to see what the fuss was about, Ryan stunk it up. But the higher-level scout was moved by the faith of the local guy, and said "If you believe in him that much, I'll confirm your reports."

The New York Mets, back in the hunt for fourth place (and 12th place league wide!) return to San Diego for a brutally late (10:10 PM New York time) start. The Only Nolan McLean is expected to start for the Mets with Griffin Canning going for San Diego. Canning was a 2025 Met, and had a surprisingly strong first half before rupturing his Achilles at the end of June. That ended his season, which may have retroactively been as much of a difference maker in the team's last-day elimination as anything. Griffin's post-recovery showing has been less stellar, and he brings an 0-and-4 record and a 7.16 ERA into the start.

Really solid win. I recommend Benge not do his fielding with his ice in his mouth.
