  2. That squeeze bunt was the right play. I'd like to see more of that from the Mets.
  3. I'm not going to say "so be it" about doing damage to a player's development, though I'm sure Ronny Mauricio will appear soon enough.
  4. Thanks for that fantasy analysis, Tony. Gotta see that firstbaseman's mitt of Vogey's.
  5. That's, of course, half good news, especially considering the young star at the peak of his powers the Braves went with on the mound last night. Not long ago (a week or two), folks were wondering where the offense was going to come from. Last night, everybody but Vientos had his bat going. It looked like a game where the Mets would run out of bullets, and they ran out of bullets. They need to find more bullets.
  6. Where's the line between not believing half the things you say in order to get ratings (and drive Cadillacs), on one hand, and telling lies to the public for ratings on the other? I don't mean to be obstinate, merely curious. I get that one works in sports punditry and the others in political policy punditry. Is that the distinction you mean to draw?
  7. Hunter has 94 here.
  8. The heart is a lonely Tommy Hunter.
  9. Wow. Mets get the top of the order in the tenth, with Vientos at second.
  10. Hunter, Leone, Megill (Megill?), and Ottavino available in the Mets' pen. Buck likely to stay away from Leone and Ottavino. If they make it to the tenth, it's probable we'll see Hunter.
  11. But how will you sleep?
  12. TWO MORE BRUTAL OUTS.
  13. Well, Vogelbach certainly could have done that.

  15. Tack on, Mets, tack on.
  16. Looking ahead, this inning might come down to a decision to pinch-hit Vogelbach for Vientos.
  17. THREE. THREE BITTER OUTS LEFT.
  18. Four. Four cruel outs to get.
  19. d'Arn it all. One-run game with five cruel outs to get. That would be a heckuva lot to ask of Díaz on a night like this. Robertson and a prayer and hopefully some help from the Met bats in the top of the ninth will have to be banked on.
  20. The league getting the message and pitching around Álvarez.
  21. Drewcuña here is hinge matchup of this game.
  22. Nimmo laying out and now we've got eight outs to fight for.
