Yeah. I counter with Roger Cedeno in center field, circa 2003. I can think of a few dozen guys without really trying. Instead, I'll just see your Cedeño '03 and raise you a Hundley '98.

  3. I was thinking about this while I didn't sleep last night. Has any prior Mets team included three players with the same surname?
  4. Indeed. In my defense, that thread's only about snapshotting the future, not in advocating it. At least, for my part. And it sticks to guys currently under Met control. But yeah, I know. But right now, Zito's a Met opponent, and therefore just another suspect that needs to be focused on..

  6. You know, zuck Fito. Trade deadline's passed. Let's go to war.

I certainly didn't mean to suggest in any way that Milledge should have or could have been traded for Hernandez or any other replacement for Sanchez. The question we're speaking to is how much, if any, the Mets expect to lose in the outfield in trading Nady.
  8. metirish wrote: they must think Milledge will be better It strikes me more like a calculated risk. He might be better, might not, and Robo in the pen is worth that risk. To them.
  9. But, even if you accept all that, we're just whizzing by happy assumptions about the current quality of Milledge's O and D. I'd like to see that stathead's work.
  10. Milledge also puts the Mets in a position of relying on an X factor on a team that had been seriously stabilized to this point. You should have a pretty good idea of what you're going to get from Nady from this point forward. Milledge may give you more, or may give you a headache, you have no idea. Hernandez hasn't been striking them out at the same rate as last year (6.91/9, compared to 7.88), but he's been effective. In short, I disagree wtih Vic on some points, but agree that we didn't get equal value. I just hate trades. "Duaner's hurt? That's awful. Heath, Henry, we need you to step into the breach." That's the American way.
  11. Well, sure but these aren't 1988 dollars. Your greater point, that he's given us all we could have hoped for, between Bret Boone's tears, is well taken.
  12. The 1964 NL is sweet. The Giants and Phils jockey. Phils pull away but then collapse at the end. You see San Francisco trying to take advantage, but you almost never see the Cards coming.

  14. I think your common thread is ruggedly handsome leading men, with sinewy forarms and a charming rascally anti-heroism. Except North by Northwest and Singing in the Rain, where you went for classy handsome leading men. I have no idea what my favorite movies are.
  15. They were steamrolled, plain and simple..... Hook baited. Fish caught. Of course they were. I was working at a bookstore inthe mid-nineties. It was starting to get aggravating how many "real" stories featured book covers, not with the real person who lived the story, but instead with Daniel Day-Lewis.
  16. Like I wasn't? God, who in their right mind is going to hire us?
  17. Sure. So does Clint Eastwood. I've got to give metirish the benefit of the doubt somewhere though, and I'll assume that his Eastwood Jones and his DeNiro DeSire aren't ethnically linked.

Full of themes of Irish-American controlled gang activity in New York. 3 - Featured no Irish connections that I know of, though there was a Latvian in the cast. 4 - Featured no Irish connections that I know of. 5 - Featured no Irish connections that I know of. 6 - Again featured Day-Lewis, in a story about Irish prisoners allegedly steamrolled in Britain. 7 -The story of an Irish Immigrant family in New york. 8 -Scottish. 9 - Very Irish story again featuring Richard Harris 10 - Very Irish story. Very Irish cast. Very British director. Very American music.
  19. Well, it would detract from the uniqueness of your ultimate designation, no?
  20. Players are all spoken for on the way there.
  21. The Mets are fifth in the National League in starter ERA. Here's one to give you pause... the Rockeis are third.
  22. The list of 11K posters includes cooby and myself, so no.
  23. Waytobe.
  24. Eleven thousand posts and any reasonably tasteful non-player designation is available to you, Mettle included.
  25. The Seaverdome, what a simultaneously great and terrible idea.
