  2. Joins Ken Henderson, Ronn Reynolds etc. among the weirdest opening day starting lineup guys in team history. Mike Howard.
  3. Interesting if he parlayed his year with the Mets into a big-league deal. I was hoping for more power from him.

I wonder if someone will actually remember this thread when 4/5 rolls along, or if we'll have a new IGT sometime in April. If past seasons are any guide, I'm a shameless shotgun grubber.
  5. I like Wait 'Til Your Father Gets Home.
  6. We'll see how Terrence Collins plays it.

They can't deal with an extra two hours in an airplane once in a while? And it's not like they're in coach with you and me, and the 300-pound people who aren't linemen hoarding the armrest, spilling coffee all over my book and needing to go to the lavatory every 10 minutes when they're not snoring and drooling on my shoulder. The chartered team flights are pretty cushy, they stay at a nice hotel and they play once a week. Nike will pay them to use a specially designed ProCombat Performance Pillow to sleep with on the plane and they won't have to pay $4.50 for a Snack Pack that includes a granola bar, bag of pretzels and four baby carrots. They can deal with it. Really, I don't give a fig, except insofar as the issue has hijacked this thread. I was just noting that the bye week thing doesn't solve every alleged problem.
  8. Hey, whoah. TV title sequences are a different thread.
  9. I don't care. Four weeks until P&C and I'm stoked. Tentative opening day lineups. Atlanta Bourn, cfPrado, lfJones, 3bMcCann,cUggla, 2bFreeman, 1bHeyward, rfPastornicky, ssHudson, p=#FF8000]New York Torres, cfMurphy, 2bWright, 3bDavis, 1bBay, lfDuda, rfThole, cTejada, ssSantana, p

  11. It seems like, with the Bond films and Pink Panther films, the early sixties was a breakthrough era for stylish title sequences, and a lot of good latter day sequences ---- Down with Love, Catch Me if You Can, Hi Fidelity --- reference that era. Hi Fidelity's closing sequence was even better, with the credits appearing on tattered concert posters.
  12. The Pink Panther. The film launched two institutions --- the Clouseau character and his stories and the opening credit cartoons.
  13. I was wondering if Valadius really existed or whether he was an alter-ego of one of you guys. Then I recalled that I've taken in a ballgame with him. C'mon, Vlad! If parody posting isn't the people's business, I don't know what is.
  14. [youtube:e3ma89n5]hIIQULPkWnk[/youtube:e3ma89n5] I wanted my life to be as full of unadulterated joy as Gary Carter's showers.
  15. Frank and Cathy Lee Gifford, this one's on you.
  16. Track suit says interest is "not strong."
  17. One thing is that a lot of those comments came in the book from the draft discussions --- one of the best parts of the book really. And while they ring true because of the characters they put on the screen saying them, they make less sense coming from a group of scouts discussing professional players --- presumably the semi-veteran players they were tossing around the table as possible replacements for Damon, Giambi, and Isringhausen.
  18. Hanging in there. Good job so far.
  19. Really doing a good job in describing Seaver's aloofness from mere mortals.
  20. Oooh, he just described Grant and Young as "rightly excoriated."
  21. Tuning in NOW!!!! Talking to Steven Travers, author of The Last Icon.
  22. He'd be the first Cody in Mets' history. http://codyross.org/
  23. Mount Tal's Hill, I think.
  24. The flip side of the report on the Rocks' very interest in Turner was that their pursuit of Marco(s) Scutaro had cooled. Well that pursuit perhaps cooled because it was completed, as the Rox have landed Scutaro from the Red Sox, trading fringey swingman Clayton Mortensen to Boston, who looks like they're mainly dumping salary. Mike Aviles is now looking like Dustin Pedroia's new DP partner, with some help maybe from the newly signed Nick Punto.
