The potential was always there, but I don't think he was ever an ideal three hitter. His first half of last year might well have added productivity from the three hole, but he didn't hit his second homer until June 10. His triples certainly made up for that to a large extent, but I don't think he ever really made it to the fully rounded performer "ideal" suggests.

Jeff F. Kent.

Reyes was also prematurely activated after very little spring training action and only a few minor league games. His weak performance was associated with him being in the three-hole when it was far more likely a product (at least in part) with him not having the rust off yet.

On Friday, it seemed to be an interesting enough topic.

I didn't suggest any excuses. It was noted that he looked thinner, and I theorized why he might.

Nice. Unflappable Met Fan should be a meme.

Part of the frailty of Bay may simply be that he was ordered to avoid heavy workouts during his convalescence, and he has some catching up to do. Although there may not be enough time left in his career for him to catch up.

Ichiro, looking for that True Yankee moment, lines out to end the eighth. Sox/Yanks go to the ninth tied.

Nimmo with four hits today.

Nitkowski brought on with one out in the ninth today and two lefties coming up. Struck 'em both out on six straight pitches. Francisco threw a scoreless seventh.

Ollie Perez getting the job done, more or less, but doing markedly better against righties (in his 13 2/3 inning sample).

Lucas Duda 1-12 with a single, no walks, and two whiffs since his demotion. Nickeas 1-5, with a double, a walk, and a strikeout. He looks sad. Buffs beat Indanapolis today, 3-2, with all three runs being driven in by catcher and eighth-place hitter Lucas May (who is no longer the only Lucas on the team). Chris Schwinden gave up one run over seven innings for the win. Rob Carson, recently bounced up from Bingo, came on with first and third and two outs in the eighth, and got the four-out save.

Hopefully, before they did this move, they asked Bay if he'd step into the manager's office, just to mess with him a little. He's trending toward the .150 level --- what I like to call "The Kobel Line." It's not like either has played anything like a full season, but the Mets haven't had a pair of pinch-hitters having seasons like Valdy and Baxter since like Staub/Heep in 1984. Speaking of full seasons, that's three guys who've spent virtually the full season with the team (Nieuwie came up like two days in) that have been sent down in the last week. Booklike activity!

And he opens with a walk. And he opens with a walk. And he opens with a walk.

I'll call this a needs-the-work appearance for Parnell, but I'd still stick with Rauch.

Bam: perfect.

Baton to Rauch. Two oots.

Geico pitching line: IPHRERBBSO7.0410380 Pretty vintage first-half Dickey. I don't know if dry air helps him, but if I'm shopping R.A. (and I'm totally not), I'd definitely try to show indoor teams how awesome he is indoors.

Thole dubbles home a run and it's 5-1. Giftwrapped for the bullpen as Valdespin pinch-hits for Dickstrom.

Need more posts. Yup, feels Juney. I've scientifically calculated that we have the advantage, too.
