  1. Yes, you did. But that's in another thread and all. Thanks for elaborating.
  2. Oh yes he can. Can't be much worse is a good way to tempt fate.
  3. It would really help discussion if you posted your thoughts rather than re-posting his without comment.

Tejada's a better SS, a better hitter, and probably has more upside. Murphy too. why would we play Jordany? Because I don't think it's a closed issue at all whether Tejada's better hitter or has more upside. It is clear that Valdespin has the defensive tools to play the infield but has been an error-prone disaster.
  5. I don't agree that they're not going anywhere, but I'm fine with the notion of getting Valdespin time in the infield. Really, when you are not hitting, it seems to me that one of the most obvious moves, that folks nonetheless fear, is to move hitters into more challenging defensive positions and force the issue. Regarding forcing the issue, though, it's not like Flores is doing that with is bat right now.
  6. Jurrjens threw a no-hitter in that horrible Clint Eastwood/Amy Adams/Justin Timberlake movie.
  7. I don't remember him looking quite so dicky. Kinda puts me in mind of an abusive trainer, and abusive gym coach, an abusive drill sergeant. Image kinda fit with his 'roid violation, also. Post-game shot, on the other hand, kinda suggests a punk Gil Hodges.

Play the guys that at least have a chance to be good someday. I still say that, yeah, give young players PT, but I'm cool with putting old guys in between them and full-time jobs to force them to keep fighting for bigger roles. As a move in the face of their Mets' strikeoutophilia, not an impressive statement.
  9. Kingman certainly had a strong arm, as a former pitcher, but his mechanics were such that it was never really an effective weapon.
  10. Murph's brother.
  11. Ends up making that drop using Niese's glove. Ouch. It's not the difference of inches --- the drop by Ankiel, the richochet off of Rice's foot, the ricochet off the bag the prior game --- it's that they're hitting poorly enough that they relay on those breaks to fall that way just to give themselves a chance.
  12. I'm not sure, maybe Wright should have seen that.
  13. Tiebreaking run on for David with two outs. Let's do it.
  14. Good of Turner to strike out for him.
  15. That's 97 thrown spheres for Hef. Let him lead off the seventh?
  16. I'm thinking the universe stopped smiling on Buck since he slapped Valdespin in the face.
  17. Well, that's not fair.
  18. Bo Jackson is a drug addict.
  19. Hefner has my love back too.

  23. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Swan Swan H wrote: Ankiel will be in 16, per Rubin. It would be better if he was in 2008. I don't know what the point of this is, really. It's not a move for the future, and that's the kind of move they really need to make. This one's not likely to do any harm, though, unless Ankiel takes playing time away from someone more deserving, but the Mets don't seem to have that kind of someone. Sometimes moving to survive the present is a move for the future.
  24. Funny, I distinctly remember including him, but I didn't. Definitely Straw.
