  1. Now you're being silly. Firstly, you're probably thinking of Tim Leary. The record shows that Wilson went down mid season after an early June start at Atlanta. His lone appearance in Chicago, he pitched a 10 strikeout complete game. Secondly, while rain threatened, it's been perfectly temperate in Chicago. You don't really read out-of-town weather forecasts in order to reference scarcely relevant Met history in worrying what can go wrong, do you?
  2. Excellent inning, team-wise. Hopefully Parnell is available for the ninth. Or Lockwood. Or Mike Marshall.
  3. Nothing personal, Scott Rice, but I tend to see you and wonder what Feliciano is up to. Or Byrd. Or Randy Niemann. But go get 'em.
  4. Depends on how we describe bump. That spectacularly efficient seventh not only made me look the ass, but puts him a real good position to take a crack at finishing the eight. Two-out ground single = not a bump. One-out seven pitch walk = bump.
  5. There's no might about it, I think. It's probably less than 50-50 that he finishes the next inning.
  6. [bigpurple:241m6rit]OR CONFIDENT IN THE BAT OF HARVEY![/bigpurple:241m6rit]
  7. Inneresting place to let Harvey hit. Either their confident they'll get another chance to plate that go-ahead run, or confident the bullpen won't give them one.

Gary should know better than to indulge an always/never argument. Especially around Greg. If the Mets were ever up 7-0 during Kingman's tenure, he surely had something to do with it.
  9. Well shit, Gary. I was screaming that as loud as I could at the time.
  10. I love that Recker and I have gotten you all to open up about your sexuality today. It's going to be a good weekend!

  12. IKE It is unfortunate.
  13. Harvey is handsome? He's awesome, and of course, that lends a certain perfume of attraction to an otherwise unimpressive grill, but he's no Anthony Recker. <>
  14. Pictures or it didn't happen. But it really happened! Cubs failed to put the acute accent over the second O in Ordez, but it's him.
  15. Personally I think he's too kind to those who abuse the art of adaptation. It's not about faithfulness, it's about respect. The worst adaptations don't care about the source material at all. They borrow authority from their superiors. And don't always return it intact.
  16. There's the duck that has defined Greg's life. Got a foreshadowing of team's new caps there, it looks like. The early, illustrated Mr. Met does also.
  17. There's a lot of generous chins here. You figure, "Surely those last two can't be outchinned," and then... BAM!
  18. A Duda or two might be nice.
  19. I'm not sure I get this. Is the implication that the players had 10 hours to drink and carouse the evening before --- instead of the standard four --- before needing to report by 10 AM for the game?
  20. Funny that they have Henderson in bunting practice. Does anybody rotate the back foot forward and square their hips anymore? It's seems that when I was young (and Steve Henderson was a cardboard god), that this was the gold standard leaving your back foot where it is was considered bad form. I have to say, these teams having a long history of cross-pollination before the mettalic ink era leaves us with a much handsomer set of cards.
  21. Don't miss the trees for the forest. The Mets are still awesome. And Harvinian. I was thinking of the Brazell Game, the game that sank the 2004 Cubs, which special help from our newest bestest buddy LaTroy Hawkins.
  22. Another trip through the rotation, another night when sons of men pointlessly try and oppose Rainy Lara with ashen clubs. 8.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 SO His ERA sits at 1.17. People in Savannah are soooooooo lucky. Game had to go to the eleventh, before the Gnats broke through for six runs and the win, but break through they did.
  23. Well, the way they're handling Duda, I bet they see moving him to first as a dilemma scenario.
  24. And the wallz wasn't spongey back then. I've certain been thinking about Reiser the last few days. I've become convinced that he was an all-time great --- and the Dodgers take maybe a notch or two from the Yankee belt --- if he could've stopped with the suicide missions. No way to avoid running into World War II, of course, but he injured himself playing Army ball too. (I imagine he was part of the reason Ted Williams was so miserly about playing service ball.)
