  1. Those sliders away have been death for Buck.
  2. A Buckaboom away from a tie game.
  3. Thanks, Marlon. We're really good at making an inconsequential late mark. Let's make it consequential.
  4. Top of the order. Big inning for the fathers.
  5. Met 956, starting with Roger Craig, is Carlos Torres, with a nice two-inning debut.
  6. Swan Swan H wrote: Well-defined philtrum. I like that in a pitcher. Good point. Two good points, actually.
  7. Hey! Buck got on! Third straight leadoff runner for the Mets.
  8. The wrong team is in blue for a home game against Chicago. It's a little disorienting, and I briefly got the notion that two Mets were scoring as the Cubs threw the ball around the park.
  9. One hit and no runs through four innings sounds, as Stevie Nicks says, hauntingly familiar. Let's not do that this time.
  10. Carlos Torres had an option to force the Mets to promote him by a certain date or release him. So the date has come and he exercised that option. The Mets apparently have blinked and are promoting him. Collin McHugh (demoted) and Greg Boike (DFA) were on their way out anyhow. Torres is the author of two consecutive complete games and wins in five straight starts. I'd think that might help if I believed pitching was the problem. Anyhow, he's got a badass stare. Which is worth something, I think.
  11. Posting something to declare how boring it is. It's like German performance art. Terry should do that with his lineup card. Hand it to the umpire and say, "Dees is mein lineup. Eet disGUSTS me. There --- now I have died from utter BOREdom, my moldering carcass lending only passing meaning to this torpid affair."
  12. That's a heckuva summation. The only thing that feels distinctly not-very-big-league about the proceedings is turning a semi-counterfeit band member "Jeff" into the official cheerleader for a team he''s probably not very familiar with. I imagine he had the same role with the Akron Aeros three nights ago. GarRonKei could not say enough about how good the national anthem was ("Best of the year") during one of the innings when they couldn't say much about anything else I had forgotten that was Junior Walker on "Urgent." That was a pretty inventive nu wave solo for an old rhythm and blues guy.
  13. Nimmo and Plawecki celebrate as Savannah clinches the division for the first half.
  14. Bue jerseys Blue hats Won't you swing some New bats? Blue jerseys Can't you see? Valdespin is always Oh for three
  15. Two Bobbies on the postgame show tonight. It's like double vision.
  16. Reports saying that Dykstra is getting sprung on Sunday.
  17. Hate to take it from an old guy like Marmol, but at least he comes after guys. Not like that last dude with the hair.
  18. "Book Now at lasvegas.com" has to be a demoralizing sign for Mets players to see in left field.
  19. Bo Jackson saying "I played 18 holes, but I could have played 36": is one weak-assed endorsement.
  20. Well, the two floaters in the bullpen have sacked up tonight, anyhow.
  21. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Edgy MD wrote: Bad running Wright. Everybody runs on Soriano. He gets a lot of assists because nobody respects him. That's just a terrible post, Edward. I have a streak to maintain.
  22. Bad running Wright. Everybody runs on Soriano. He gets a lot of assists because nobody respects him.
  23. The judges are going to allow that. We would have also accepted, "Will the Mets be invited to participate?"
  24. Line single for Murph and it's 6-2. Murphy is our only hope. Raines walked a lot.
