  1. Ball is in the dirt and Carillo walks. Bases, juiced, tying run on base, two out and Alonzo Harris up. He's only in the game due to a pair of ejections.
  2. Muno was tossed in an incident earlier in the game. It's 3-0 on Carillo. Visit to the pitching mound.
  3. Ceceliani walks on four pitches and Xorge Carillo is the tying run at the plate. Ball one is low.
  4. Interestingly, the go with righty Manny Barreda against the lefty-batting Cece.
  5. Vaughn whiffs. Ceceliani up. Trenton goes to the pen.
  6. Trenton up 3-0 and five outs from a sweep. Runner on second for Cory Vaughn.
  7. It's also really hard to win without putting the ball into play.
  8. Swish-malicious. As soon as I heard Napoli hit one for the Sawx, I knew Swish was poised to answer.
  9. Zvon wrote: I think I made that one in 2010. About time Red. Not really just in time, though. A few more of those a little earlier woulda been OK.
  10. Wow! His first homer goes like 420 feet.
  11. Duda's got 12 homers and only 27 RBIs. That is not maximizing your stuff.
  12. "Indians" is ethnographically wrong but has a tradition that gives it a currency, even among Native Americans themselves. "Redskins" is has a derogatory connotation that "Indians" does not. The caricature of the chief is another matter. Kazmir is pitching angry.
  13. Sudakis has a shine on his shoes that Seaver lacks. Pro's pro my ass.
  14. Heath Bell broke the Marlins before they even got the whole kit out of the box.
  15. Yup. This might end up being the second best thing that's ever happened to him.
  16. Byrdak clearly sabotaged the guy. I think about fringey guys like Rice a lot. Whether they get hurt while in the bigs or on the minors can make all the difference to them. Getting paid like a big leaguer while you're recovering must make rehabbing all the less terrifying. You rehab in the minors, not only are you getting paid in peanuts, but a team is more than happy to cut you free as soon as your recovery is arguably complete. You rush back under pressure and get doubly screwd for the effort.
  17. Maybe we shouldn't be looking to pick Reyes off of the Rays corpse, but rather Dickey instead. I mean, if you're looking for an innings eater, and suspect they're looking to divest. No, I don't think they'll do it either.
  18. Sorry.
  19. The main need is offense. The only reason to secure Tim Lincecum would be if you were dealing from the pitching they already had in house, like if they were packaging Zack Wheeler and Carlos Torres for Giancarlo Stanton or something.
  20. That was, to date, Evans' last appearance in the big leagues. Hit 19 homers for Mobile in the Southern League this year. That's AA, the same level from which the Mets eagerly called him up back in 2008.
  21. Jackie Robinson also helped talk Donn Clendenon's stepfather talk young Donn out of football and into baseball.
  22. Came on in the fifth for Montero last night. Gave up two hits to load the bases before getting out of it. With any luck, we could go with Byrdak, Rice, Feliciano, Edgin, Henn, and Carson and get a whole game out of situational lefties. Things get a little dicey, we can bring in Justin Hampson. I guess it's Henn's spot that Hambone is taking, then.
  23. Bad job by Marlon Byrd defending his title there.
  24. Cue the Cleveland tourism video.
  25. Well, then, never mind and stuff. What I really like about that fake young Agee card floating around is that it's a rare image where his athleticism is shining thought in the flower of his youth. Like Jackie Robinson, he appears to have had a perhaps not-yet-diagnosed diabetic condition going on during his career, and he got old while he was still young.
