  1. Probably original merchandise from the eighties that never caught on and is still laying around in the warehouse.
  2. Tarp's going down. Game might not be over, but I'm wiling to bet Niese's night is.
  3. The Philly booth reminds me that no lead is safe in this park.
  4. Wonder how long it'll be before the next Hall of Fame player becomes a manager.
  5. I realize strike three was right down the middle, but Niesey, you've got to wait for the umpire to actually ring you up before heading to the bench. It was if someone told him there cocoa in the dugout.
  6. I'm glad they're winning, but I'm freezing watching this game.
  7. Cold night, hot Murphy.
  8. Marlon hit that like he knew it was coming.
  9. Youse guys gots to quit putting songs in my head. [youtube:23s29f8i]C2xel6q0yao[/youtube:23s29f8i]
  10. Well, that ruins THAT letter to Mom.
  11. Bob McClure was one courageous and noble officer for the Confederacy, I tell you what.
  12. How drunk is the guy in short sleeves behind the plate?
  13. THERE 'TIS!
  14. Man, Satin, this is that at-bat we should be talking about in September.
  15. Nice to see Niese going hitless through three, but conditions are farcical out there.
  16. The streak lives. Thanks Marlins for beating the snot out of the Braves today.
  17. I like that they had to have R2D2 in the corner of the room for the read-through. I noticed that Kenny Baker isn't in the picture. Maybe he felt he had to crawl back in the can and do the read-through in costume. That would be hardcore.
  18. HAH! Murph'd.
  19. Let's avenge the Rangers here.
  20. [fimg=700]http://news.images.itv.com/image/file/386358/article_img.jpg[/fimg] The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film. Director J.J. Abrams says, "We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud." Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015. On one hand, how cool that they can't do a read-through without R2D2 sitting in the corner. On the other hand... NO LANDO?!?!
  21. Oh, OK. It's ex-Yankee Jayson Nix, who became a Phil when I wasn't looking.
  22. Them GuysThese GuysRevere, cfRollins, ssUtley, 2bByrd, rfHoward, 1bRuiz, cBrown, lfNix, 3bHamels, spE. Young, lfMurphy, 2bWright, 3bC. Young, cfGranderson, rfSatin, 1bd'Arnaud, cTejada, ssNiese, sp I'm not crazy, right? Nix doesn't play third. He's a lefty.
  23. With the opening of the exhibit Presidents and Baseball at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, the Nixon Foundation published this blog post about the president's long history as a fan. Included is this cool letter to Straw: The two homers referenced in the letter were on September 8 and 9, both losses to Montreal. The team would win the final game of the series on the 10th, the day this letter is dated, before entering into the weird four-game losing streak that delayed their clinching the division. He, of course, heeded the advice enough to save three more homers for the post-season, including a big one for game seven of the World Series. Also in that blog post is a clip of Nixon being interviewed on the Mets post-game show in 1987, hosted not by Ralph, but by FX Healy.
  24. Frayed Knot wrote: Wouldn't mind seeing his slugging numbers upped a bit -- only 4 doubles + 1 triple + 1 HR among his 30 hits to date Brandon Nimmo's line tonight against the Charlotte Stone Crabs: 4-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, 2 RS His line for the season: .407 / .530 / .549 // 1.080. I don't want to jinx things by saying we're in holy shit territory here, but sweet Georgia Brown, his nightly lines have been a refreshing thing to look at.
  25. That's two big thumbs they've wrecked in as many weeks. Time to consider sliding feet first again. It's a shame. Mets nonetheless have to take advantage.
