  1. Offense wakes up tonight. They're not done.
  2. Gotta swing at that, Bobby.
  3. God, it's nice to see a ballpark with the field level filled.
  4. I support sending him up there, but once he crushed that pitch off his shin, he was compromised both as a hitter and a baserunner.
  5. A lot of folks talking about that. The original cast was full of men too. Wars are full of men.
  6. Yeah, John Franco went oh-for-Mets, despite most of 14 seasons with the team.
  7. And Gaybashing Roger McDowell!
  8. Ervin "Benson Bunch" Santana: 3-0 / 2.41 through his first five starts. Striking out 36% more hitters than his previous career rate. Walking 32% fewer.
  9. That's some good data crunching. You should send that one in to Cohen.
  10. I'm a true New Yorker, therefore I resent being marketed to! I demand the team change its colors to gray and grayer, choose as next year's slogan "Come on out! Or don't... whatever... ," and change all giveaway days to "What? The Game Isn't Enough for You?" days!
  11. Colon grounds out in the lone appearance by a Mets pitcher at the plate last night, raising the staff's season-long batting drought to 0-43. You're in Colorady! If you can't hit here, then where?! Help the cause!
  12. Well I'm sort of speaking of balls --- like the Wright ones you describe --- that the Mets got on top of. I was just thinking that Rockies balls that would have died at Citi were flying over the Mets' outfielders' heads.
  13. Joel Hanrahan goes to the Tigers. Seems they always have a bullpen full of J's: Joels, Joses, a Joaquin or two.
  14. Tino Martinez, following in the illustrious line of Bobby Kennedy, Seamus Heaney, and Willie Randolph, invited to give the commencement address at Fordham. Derek Dietrich and Casey Kotchman apparently not on the selection committee.
  15. Yeah, guys, swing like it's Coors Field. I want Eric Young to hit at least four homers tonight. Balls were flying yesterday. I would have been tempted to go with a four-outfielder alignment. Meanwhile, how many pitches at the knees has Granderson ripped into one hoppers right at the firstbaseman the last ten days? Or one hoppers right at the second baseman? Or drives right at the rightfielder? One doesn't want to make too much of the Citi Field Factor, but it seems the balls that die in the alleys at home discourage the players from getting too much elevation, but that habit turns around and serves them badly when they reach Citizen's Bank Park and Coors Field, where elevation serves you well. (How many corporate sponsors did I work into that paragraph. Anyhow, one doesn't want to make too much of that.
  16. Grandy has been hitting everything hard towar the 4-5 hole, but ulike that time, most have been caught. Boom! 7-4.
  17. OK, Young Six or seven more like that, Mets.
  18. Wright getting robbed all night.
  19. Great, the fans get tacos. I'd like some Mexican food too, Mets.
  20. I'm a true something. I mean... I like the occasional bagel. On the other hand, getting bombed every other start isn't gonna work, Bartolo.
  21. That play might have been a collision last year.
  22. That drive that Lagares caught was Denver in a nutshell. Nothing hit that hard and straightaway doesn't knuckle, but that thing almost flew right past his ear.
  23. Point taken. In my mind, Chris Young went down in game one, not game two.
  24. Justin met his wife Krista at the Hellfire Club.
  25. First time out there for the defensively-enhanced Young-Laggy-Grandy outfield alignment that Alderson envisioned in the offseason. Just in time for a trip to the biggest outfield in the big leagues, too.
