  1. Campbell has done three very good things so far.
  2. The Swingin' A's can swing. Even Kazmir got some good hacks in.
  3. How about having to hear Terry have to tell the ump the ground rules?
  4. Kazmir wearing Dave Kingman's old jersey.
  5. Dang, Lagares might well have corralled that. Probably would have gotten the ball in on time anyhow.
  6. Everybody welcome back the Guy Conti. The much-missed former bullpen coach is filling is as bench coach tonight as Bob Geren moves to first base, replacing Tom Goodwin, who is taking the series off to attend to family issues. Way to fall up, Guy!!
  7. d'Arnaud activated and in the lineup. Teagarden to the DL with a hamstrain. If you had that outcome in Transaction Bingo, please step forward and collect your prize.
  8. Hard to imagine multiple anything for the guy at this point, but someone invoked the scenario, and we're working in the abstract.. Zvon wrote: I would like to think the leak is some squirrely guy giving away secrets for who knows what reason, but the leak thing has just become such a regular feature I would not be surprised if it's an orchestrated thing. Anybody heard from HVAC Guy at Shea recently? He probably didn't get transitioned onto the Citi Field staff.
  9. That background on Doolittle makes almost no sense.
  10. The reason you might give up something for a player that is rumored to be released is because (1) a rumor is a rumor, (2) if you suspect there are multiple suitors, you want to beat them to him.
  11. Zvon wrote: I think Sandy should cut him if that's his plan... Well, sure, but that's my point. If he was supposed to be cutting him on Thursday, he now has to move precipitously. ...and just ignore it if it isn't. I don't know about you, but if my employee got word that he was going to be fired on Thursday, and I know he knows, but I'm saying nothing to him one way or another, asking him to come to meetings and help pitch a proposal to my big clients and shit on Tuesday and Wednesday... well, that would look like an awkward and counterproductive couple of days at work. Sandy (and Terry) got put in a bad spot if there's anything to this leak, and if the leak was indeed planned and initiated by him, that's a lousy way to play.
  12. seawolf17 wrote: Yes, BUT. If there's a team out there who thinks they can use him, it might make them give Sandy a call and offer a warm body for him, and then maybe you don't eat as much of the salary as you would if you just cut him. I think teams have a solid network for letting other teams know which players of theirs are on the block, without unwieldy leaks.
  13. Easier? No way! It totally subverts your plans. If it's true, and you've got to release him before tomorrow's game. Can't have a guy everyone knows is doomed hanging out, and sure can't stick him in the game. If it's not true, you've got to issue an explicit denial, and some sort of endorsement --- when you'd rather have your options open and not be forced to endorse a player who is playing his way over the horizon. Either way, your hand is forced.
  14. Great job. I feel like my enemy is now known unto me. Kazmir did get introduced at Shea shortly after signing, so... . I'm trying to remember what song they played.... . Help me out.
  15. It's OK. I can watch 51s games too. But it still speaks of one catcher going out of Las Vegas and two coming in. So I'm curious. Teaparty would have to sit out a few days while attempting to pass through waivers, right? So maybe Plawecki would be initially promoted to cover that stretch.
  16. Teagarden not expected to clear wavers?
  17. Big gunzz on that teenager.
  18. If there's any truth to this, it really sucks for Sandy that the plans leaked.
  19. That sure would be dramatic.
  20. I continue to be surprised every time I realize Bud Black is still around.
  21. Is this one of those trade-hunting off-days?
  22. If you accept that 8-5 was the minimum acceptable outcome, well, 5-4 over the next nine will get them there.
  23. Squeezing one or both those Ozuna runners home would have certainly meant something. Nonethless, the team remains in a position to make a move. It's just that (1) it's increasingly hard to picture what that run would look like, and (2) they remain closer to the dog on their tails than to to the gate out of the yard. Enjoy your days off, men. Oakland will be a new test, as little impact as the games may have on the standings. 24. Seems like, with some sharper defense, this game could have been 11-0. Doubles in four straight at-bats for Nieuwenhuis. Or... one more than Matt den Dekker has in his 103 at-bats to date.
