Adds nothing, is all for show. I'm going to say it's not particularly like that at all. The weird thing about folks criticizing the anti-steroids regime of MLB is that you can find folks citing both players getting caught and players not getting caught as evidence the system isn't working.
  2. They may, somehow, end up trading three of those hitters before the deadline.
  3. How about a leak like this coming out, embarrassing the whole league, and somehow, someway, it doesn't appear to be the fault of anybody in the Mets' organization? I mean, at least, not yet.
  4. I had thought Juan Urbina was out of the system. Kept making prospect lists but never scratched the surface in terms of actual performance. He's becoming quite a fixture in Coney Island.
  5. Have they pre-leaked this years Uglipendence Day hats yet?
  6. Yeah, but see, it's the internet marketing age that makes all this fall flat. When our team tries a nu marketing initiative, we KNOW that every other team is doing the same thing. So not only is collective marketing making your team less likely to zag when their rival is zigging, but it's never been so plainly obvious how lockstep their zigging march is.
  7. But templating the game caps is different. For one thing, it makes everything feel too generic, too undifferentiated. Sums up a lot of issues with the game.
  8. Well, that's about the third rock-bottom this season.
  9. Laggy's glove is our best asset right now. Best, non-pitching asset, anyhow.
  10. "Unintended" /= "Unanticipated"
  11. They also have a Laggy tool. Manufacturer apparently didn't design them to work in tandem.
  12. It's a limited tool.
  13. They do, and it's name is Eric Young Joonyah.
  14. Man, it'd be nice to start getting deGromeo some winzzz.
  15. Justin is meat. Mets would do good to strike fast if they can get out of this.
  16. Pretty funny that we're trying to play out the week with no backup infielders. Teheran saving a run like a US goalkeeper.
  17. I'll be disappointed not to get at least one... and there it is.
  18. Given a few months to get it right, I'm sure they'd find an excellent compromise between taste and utility. Given 'til Friday, I fear they'd come up with a sartorial version of the scare wigs worn on Rusty Staub Day.
  19. I didn't think it was silly as a thought --- so much as a challenge to execute with the dignity befitting the situation. Athletes can't easily wear constricting things around their neck during game-play --- but hang it too loosely, and it begins to look like clown-wear, which wouldn't honor the passing of a dignified man very well. And even the most well played execution would start to wear thin as the season continued.
  20. Good job. Just write to them ASAP. I sent an e-mail through their webpage, but I have little faith that it'll reach the right eyes.
  21. Its somwhat noteworthy that he died in 1941, as if his final legacy was to teach strong young men to die with grace before their time, just as a whole generation was about to be called on to potentially do exactly that.
  22. Name those baseballers. [youtube:3s1eh6g0]3oW1RuGqw7g[/youtube:3s1eh6g0] Interesting factoid: Gehrig was Felix Millan's favorite ballplayer.
  23. I dunno. Maybe it's because I've worked at non-profits, and there's something wrong with NPs being competitive, but I never work for anybody who fields teams. I hate that. I wanna ball.
  24. There can be no doubt.
  25. The Mets have announced the uniformed personnel will wear a patch (but not a bowtie, apparently) in honor of Frank Cashen.
