  1. That lineup's gonna mash.
  2. Looking at the 13 this way: Strap in and Double Down:13-0 12-1 11-2 10-3 9-4 8-5Ambiguous Outcome Calling for the Wisest of leadership7-6 6-7Bail Out, Dump Contracts, Turn Lineup Over, Possibly Swap Managers:5-8 4-9 3-10 2-11 1-12 0-13 That's just speculation of course. I suppose the Mets would probably keep grinding it out for a few weeks even if there was a weak but not disastrous four-win showing or so, but I suspect he machinery would be shifting toward change behind the scenes. Anyhow, if 8-5 was what the team needed to re-launch the season, that number is now 7-5. Thanks, Wheeler.
  3. Wheeler appears to line up next against... Scott F. Kazmir at Citi Field, making his long-awaited Queens debut.
  4. Kershaw landed a game score of 102. Second-highest nine-inning jobbie on record, after Kerry Wood's 20-strikeout game. Against a good-hitting Rockies' squad also.
  5. I'm telling you, it wouldn't cost nuttin' to get his brother on the payroll. We probably could have asked him to be thrown in on the Byrd/Buck or Davis deals, and Pittsburgh would have scarcely blinked. Maybe we'd have to give up Quintanilla (or less), but I've got imaginary piles of fake research here demonstrating that having a brother on the team takes the pressure off, and makes it feel like Little League all over again.
  6. Ike tore it up when he came back up, too. It just wasn't so memorable, because most of his tearing came in the form of ObP, rather than long-range bombs. He went .286 / .449 / .505 // .954 in 40 games before getting hurt at the end of August. He led the league in second-half OBP, for what that's worth.
  7. Wouldn't be surprised to see Grady Sizemore get a fortnight vacation in Queens, a la Rick Ankiel.
  8. I'll be the first to admit that Vegas stats, like casino chips, are sadly redeemable for absolutely nothing if you try to cash them in in New York, but, also stating the obvious, reading about Travis on a roll sure beats reading about him crapping out.
  9. Travis d'Arnaud since his demotion: G: 11 PA: 47 BA: .432 OBP: .479 SLG: .977 OpS: 1.456 HR: 6 RBI: 15 BB: 3 SO: 3 I'm not greedy. I'd be happy with six homers and 15 RBI in his 39 games with the Mets this year.
  10. I have to say, that last ball was hit hard. If it doesn't go at somebody, well, Terry's a real idiot this morning.

  12. Let's get our pitcher some runzzz tomorrow. I like Corduroy.
  13. Terry gives him the slack to pitch to the winning run.
  14. Happy to see that the ump has dinner reservations with Keith.
  15. I would guess that would be the plan. Among other things, it protects him from getting a loss. I'm sure managers think about that sort of thing.
  16. Wheeler still bringing it in the eighth. Hickcock certainly giving him the outside corner.
  17. I guess he didn't want to get forced at second if the pop fell in, but...
  18. Not sure where you were going, EY.
  19. Eric Young getting it done since coming off the DL.
  20. This thread is totally jacked. Speaking of jacks, where the f is f-man? You think he'd be all over a thread with this title.
  21. What is it? Game of Thrones or somesuch? Second DP the Marlins have hit into in two innings. Third of the game.
  22. Fifth inning and working on a one-hitter, folks. Are you all watching soccer?
