  1. Right-center is murder.
  2. Zvon wrote: Ugh. Laggy, I know what you were doing there but that was stupid. Man in scoring position. Shame on you Juan. You think he would have kept the runner at first if he hadn't doven? Dived? Doved? I didn't really get that impression.
  3. Waddayagonnado? He picked that ball up off his ankles.
  4. Well, pandas can do things human beings can not.
  5. I'd say that was foul by about four centimeters tops.
  6. No replay, but that looked like a pretty bad call on EY. Problem is Eric's body language suggested he was guilty.
  7. wowBOBwow Pence looked scared up there.
  8. So, THIS is an interesting game.
  9. Definitely in the family picture when discussing least productive (or most counter-productive) seasons in team history. Buddy of Mo Vaughn. Don't know if that's why he made it through the season, but... well, ask Mike Glavine.
  10. This guy is positively raking right now. If Nieuwenhuis isn't back soon, dD sure will be.
  11. Lefty Specialist wrote: Mike Glavine. Because sometimes it's not what you know, but who you know. You forgot about Mike Glavine?!
  12. Hitless through five. I'm calling on Laggy to lead off the next inning with a bunt attempt.
  13. Duda just ripped a grounder right into the shift. This Duffy guy looks about 15.
  14. Sheesh, anybody watching this game? Sandy in the booth. Just shared a subtle inside joke with Ron Darling.
  15. Just rolled over in bed one morning last week and thought, "Hey, Frank Catalanotto was totally a 21st Century Met." I had forgotten most everything about him. I think he started the season with the team and then got released before the summer had replaced the spring. 2010? 2007? I dunno. But that unloaded a floodgate of post-2000 Mets I absolutely don't think about (unlike Emil Brown, who I think about a LOT). I mentioned Chris Aguila last week. Some small engram in mind had sparked him up Tuesday or so. Just about an hour ago, Jesus Feliciano appeared in my mind, screaming how he would not be forgotten. And indeed, now he hasn't. Seems to be a wave of outfielders washing over me.
  16. Well, I'll just go ahead and outright recommend it then. I've found the cosmology of the Thor films weighty and stupid, but this just embraces the stupidity and delights in it, gobbling on its cheesiness just as lovingly as it gobbles on its cheesy seventies soundtrack.
  17. Not a "deal" per se, but the suddenly stacked-with-pitchin' Oakland Athletics released Jimmy Johnson outright, eating a third of this $10 million deal. The guy had saved 101 games the last two years. Reason number 29 in why you don't invest big in closers.
  18. Yeah, the challenge is launching this and not letting it undermine their Marvel Universe. Delivering a tongue-in-cheek-y Spaceballs/Flash Gordon space adventure certainly is a challenge to reconciling with the graver and weightier tone they've been bringing to the Avengers films, if we are to accept that they indeed take place in the same universe. Which isn't to say it isn't better than Spaceballs and Flash Gordon. It is. And done right, I guess it could lift and lighten the tone of the Avengers series if there indeed is to be any reconciliation. (And some shared peripheral context suggest there is.)
  19. The thing is, the rule in place pretty much was what you describe, it just wasn't enforced, so rather than saying, "Hey, let's look at this thing closely and enforce it correctly to protect both runner and catcher," they wrote in this clarification --- which served to obscure instead. Because I don't know, I guess we can't read anymore.
  20. He may be Dan Uggla, but that's really sad.
  21. Got to be any number of Justin Turners out there that Giants could be playing at second --- guys they could get for a song, and I don't mean a Vogelsong. With the team soft at first and second and a little in the outfield and rotation, this may be an opportunity for the Mets they don't want to waste. Wouldn't be surprised to see Utley on the team by the end of the year.
  22. Saw it last night, and am having trouble getting the smell of nerd off of me this morning. [fimg=444:2zfju7jx]http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Poster-High-Res-691x1024.jpg[/fimg:2zfju7jx]
  23. When Brandon Hicks has been removed from the mix and Dan Uggla has played his way off a second team in as many weeks (0-11 as a Giant, and unlikely to be voted any potential post-season shares), it's time to hit the Panik Button. Second tenure with the Giants for Ishikawa, making brief stops in Milwaukee, Baltimore, the Bronx, and Pittsburgh in between. Less than 20 games each at those last three junctions.
  24. That's a whole lot of salary the Phils are going to be laying out for past performances over the next few years. We kinda needed Cliff Lee to help the Phils pick off teams ahead of the Mets.
