  2. Who is... John Cangelosi?

The lack of batting gloves should have given it away. Stupidini that I was. Clicking back and forth based on a LIE without following my own eyes.
  4. I tend to think good pitchers become more effective in that specialist role the more they are used in it. I still think it's more likely (and what isn't more likely than a four-way trade?) they get a lefty reliever by dealing off a backup catcher.
  5. Bring on the dancing bears, right, Keith?
  6. Check out Cecchini. No batting gloves.
  7. Hey, Nats, spring training is almost over. Act like you care.
  8. What a disaster for Tanner Roark. Losing his starting job despite a 15-win season, and now pitching like somebody about to get farmed out.
  9. Good to see the beard trimmed also.
  10. He completed the seventh! And what have YOU completed today? Nothing!
  11. DeGrom pitching into the seventh. They've sat all the hitters, but the starting pitcher is still out there.
  12. The Nats have needed four pitchers to get through six innings. The Mets have needed one.
  13. And Cuddyer plates Duda with a cracked-bat single up the middle against the pulled-in Washington infield. And Flores plates whoever just pinch-ran for Duda.
  14. The world is full of guys who improve as hitters in the big leagues at the age Laggy is at. I think not just of the obvious Carlos Gomez, but of Carl Everett and Vernon Wells and Jeromy Burnitz and Jos Guillen. The key I think is getting enough reps while you're not that good. And what allows you to do that is (1) bouncing from team to team, (2) coming up with a team in transition that doesn't have a lot of great alternatives, and (3) being an elite defender. I think he scored big on (2) and (3) and working his thing out the last two years on time bought for him by his glove and the failed hopes of the likes of Collin Cowgill, Rick Ankiel and Chris Young. I think he can hit. He's certain got a bigger upper body than young Carlos Gomez did.
  15. "My eyes are probably what I get the most compliments on. Definitely the lighter the shirt I am wearing, the more my eyes pop." Tool is perhaps a more generous term, lacking the implication of a default hostility, but... The article from which that quote comes didn't have the impact it should have, since his elbow exploded about 10 minutes later, but every single quote on it's own reveals him as a venal self-mythologizing tool that would embarrass Jeter himself. Together... whoo boy. We're heading toward Douchebag Country.
  16. They've stated outright that they have no intention of floating Flores back and forth. I would, but I guess I understand that thinking. Dilson is already farmed out. If he can't answer the bell, his roster spot is for grabs between Reynolds and Muno, and his opening day start could go to either one of them or Tejada or Campbell. Campbell hasn't been used at second in a game at all this spring, so it's more realistically down to the other three.
  17. No playas.
  18. Shots emerging from the incident where he got his lunch trashed. He does NOT look happy.
  19. Part 1: YES or NO 1) Curtis Granderson leads the club in HRs? NO 2) Jenrry Mejia leads in saves? YES Will be on the team's ML roster (or DL) the entire season? 3) Dillon Gee YES 4) Bartolo Colon YES 5) Travis d'Arnaud YES 6) Anthony Recker YES 7) Daniel Murphy YES 8) Ruben Tejada YES 9) Jonathon Niese YES 10) Terry Collins YES Part 2: OVER/UNDER 11) Lucas Duda -- 29.5 HRs UNDER 12) Michael Cuddyer -- 119.5 Starts OVER 13) Jenrry Mejia -- 19.5 Saves OVER 14) Wilmer Flores -- 449.5 PAs OVER 15) Bartolo Colon -- 17.5 Starts OVER 16) David Wright -- 21.5 HRs TOUGH! 22. This is trending toward an unhappy conclusion after a Mejia fart messed up the eighth. Name of the new Cardinal right fielder: "Blake Drake."
  23. The pitcher-eighth lineup not getting it done today.
  24. Castellano goes down looking. Nieuwenhuis walks. Cambell up, two men out and three men on. Nowhere to look, but inside.
