So, Maybin replaces Eric Young/Zoilo Almonte. But who does Quentin displace? Gomes? Markakis? Neither?

I guess I knew this and forgot, but... baseball teams can trade draft picks now? Or is it just compensation picks?

Notice that scratching out a tie in that last game kept Toronto from catching them in the Grapefruit Cup chase. [fimg=550:1x73i3vx]http://www.kcu.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/County-Insurance-including-many-of-the-insureTAXI-team-win-3-0-against-Kindertons-640x360.jpg[/fimg:1x73i3vx]

That wasn't even such a bad pitch to Recker. The catcher set up away and it was over the outside corner. The first pitch had been a slider away, and Recker must've been looking there because he reached out and pulled it. Buchele and Maddux, running the show while Manager Bannister was home sick, really looked like they felt they were out of their depths in that ninth inning..

I don't think Collins burns through relievers however that's defined any more than the norm.

And we chalk it up as a tie. Thanks for coming out, fans. We don't really care who wins. Not sure why you do. Please drive safely.

>>>>>> Como ESTA?!!!!![/bigpurple]

Except now we've got two outs in the ninth and bases loaded, bringing Anthony Recker up as the tying run, facing a lefty. BUT... the Rangers go to the pen. They don't want to mess with Anthony.

And the big drama about reserve infielders Muno? Reynolds? Both? turns out to be... neither! Murphy gets cleared for opening day, so the only slot one of them was going to steal was Campbell's. Not only don't they get his spot, but neither does Campbell himself, as he gets sent down, leaving the Mets with a four-man bench and a rare eight-man bullpen. They were in danger of losing Gilmartin or Carlyle, so they carried them both, but carry Montero too. Curious, huh? All stats removed from tables below. John Mayberry falling asleep on the base paths. Ouch. Let's not give back the mental errors Texas made yesterday, Mets.

Wilmer coughs up a run with a throw in the dirt. They score it as an infield hit and an RBI, but that's not right.

Man, somebody sure rougned that guy's odor.

Braves broadcasters call Steve Buchele "Boo."

Yeah, I wouldn't suggest greenlighting that one.

Doesn't seem silly to me. If he can get reps in minor league games without necessarily activating him, but not in major league ones, that's a healthy and strategic way to proceed.

We had a brainstorming session back before SNY was launched, and we came up with enough cheap but deep programming to fill 24-7. It doesn't have to be 60 Minutes.

I'm not giving up on Murphy until/unless events of today warrant it, but the nationals seem pretty set to be without Rendon and virtually Werthless. Flores seems to have jumped d'Arnaud in the batting order. He's earned it, but I get the notion that d'Arnaud is sensitive and carries small lights as a weight.. That's three starters sidelined on opening day, plus setup reliever Casey Janssen out with rotator cuff tendinitis.

One boy and one girl.

Akeel Morris is one of a set of triplets.

Still waiting for that Niese deal to go down, Craig Calcaterra.

I don't get the channel, but we should all let them know at every turn. People talk about re-taking the city in the abstract sense, but the reality is the actual taking may well be a matter of weeks away. By some measures, it's already happened. SNY is about to become a very hot commodity, and the same tired and empty programming is a missed opportunity at a long-term investment.

Anything that manipulates the wind patterns for a little Verrett boomerang effect is good.

Mets soundly take a Ranger team that looked about a month behind them as far as preparedness. Twenty straight scoreless innings for the Mets. deGrom went four innings, giving up one hit, striking out four, walking none.

Fat Tejada sort of a two-year-old narrative, continually dug up because he's a favorite guy to dump on. But there's really been nothing supporting it.
