  1. Duda way off the bag. Very gutsy. Saves a little bit of our tempeh.
  2. Carlyle's lack of a pause is gonna bite him bad one day.
  3. Logo size: advantage Mets!

  5. Steve also got me by recalling Dave LaRoche as the 19921993 bullpen coach. Lots of bullpen coach knowledge going around. Interesting LaRoche fact: Dave, despite his francophonic surname, identifies as Mexican-American (as do Adam and Andy, to lesser extents). He was born "Davd Garcia," but took a stepfather's name at the age of seven.
  6. New bleachers in left and center expected to debut for this series.
  7. Yup. Ever since, I've kind of come to think that "Pineda" is just the Spanish word for pine tar. Silly rabbit. What you do is you put it under your shirt. And then, every time you tuck that honking necklace back into your shirt, you grab a big fat globule.
  8. Michael Pineda struck out 16 yesterday, the most in a game for the Yankees since Ron Guidry struck out 18 in 1978. This is impressive considering the Yankees have spent good money to employ the likes of C.C. Sabathia, Randy Johnson, Roger Clementine, and David Cone. But that's what you get for paying guys more for their past than their future. Anyhow, the performance sets up a tabloid showdown over which is the best young pitcher in New York, Pineda or Harvey. People WILL milk this. And certainly clamor for a showdown at Citi. Unfortunately for the Yankees, it's not Pineda or Harvey. It's really Pineda or Harvey or deGrom or Wheeler or Syndergaard or Matz or Familia or Molina. Or Rainy Lara.
  9. Dave Laroche not a lot of Metly connection there, outside of coaching the Cyclones.
  10. Ashie62 wrote: Best bargain on the roster. Well, Harvey is the best bargain on the roster. But yeah, the signing looks pretty solid right now.
  11. Bartolo Colon has now gone 40 2/3 innings without a walk, nearly halfway to the record of 84 1/3 innings, by Bill Fischer of the Kansas City Athletics, in 1962. He's now sporting a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 34:1. That's the way you do it.
  12. Not a lot of umpires get fired.
  13. Gorgeous game you Mothers Day revelers missed here.
  14. Tejada is getting silly.

  17. Way to cover the line, Doo. I'm... all alone.
  18. Man, AT really burning his bridges here.
  19. All-the-time lex Torres not finding plate these days.
  20. There he goes! Welcome to the season, Kirk!
  21. Kirk, man, try bunting. It's the answer.
  22. It's Pink Chest Protector Day!! Hey, look, Bartolo has a breaking pitch.
  23. Buddy slinging it with Vas. [youtube:2yadyuk7]Xtmjs-xQ7Ts[/youtube:2yadyuk7] If you want your kid to have a catch with a Met, apparently your best bet is catching Buddy's attention on the road.
  24. Was that his only play, or did he have a play at the plate as well?
