I think he's doing alright. Most of his production is walks, but that might change if and when the lineup strengthens. But it's better than a weak-hitting shortstop, certainly. He's certainly not killing it, but I'm not jettisoning him. Or anybody, really, at this point.

Both he and his wife ripped the Mets at one time or another, frustrated at being called up and then passed through waivers a few times. Even as they backed off, more than a few Mets fans were with him. OE: http://www.nj.com/mets/index.ssf/2009/04/nelson_figueroa_upset_over_new.html

Passed through waivers but was found to have a stress fracture in his back (!!). The waivers were cancelled as he was determined to have been injured beforehand and you can't be removed from the roster during the season while injured. He remained on the roster and was placed on the 15-day DL, and now transferred to the 60-day, where he won't count against the roster limit. He hasn't yet appeared in a game, so his DL time is backdated to his last appearance in a spring training game.

I checked this out once and I found at one point that two stations relaying the Mets feed were WTLA 1200 out of Syracuse and WAVZ 1300 out of New Haven. Give it a shot one night.

... so ... higher-end penis ads!

It's all Vegas all the time, as the 51s sweep a pair from Albuquerque to run their streak to 12 straight games. In game one, the pitchers run a brigade, with five of them pitching less than two innings in a 3-1 victory. The future of pitching may look like this. In game game two, Vegas pounds the Isotopes, 11-2, behind two homers off the bat of second baseman Wilfredo Tovar. Newly arrived Brooks Conrad picked up three hits and three RBI. Steven Matz gave up two runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Vegas up 2-1 in the fourth over Albuquerque, who strangely have a park that is reachable in straightaway center but deeper to the let and right of the cutaway. Boomarang Met Logan Verrett started but only went one. I imagine he isn't injured but was given a short workday, since he was used in relief by Texas, and they'll be stretching him in subsequent starts.

Agreed. Never thought I would miss the baseball trifecta of beer, cars, and lawn equipment. But ambulance chasers, fake charities, and the corrections officer union telling me about the guy who raped my dawta is feeling kinda bush.

Mets on WOR seem to have a lot of personal injury law firms as their sponsors.

Hey, it's 1999-ish pitching coach Dave Wallace, out on the mound, telling Norris to try and bring it like Josias Manzanillo.

This is the way it's supposed to happen when Bud Norris is pitching.

Back in bidness!

Leadoff dubble. 180 feet from doing that scoring thing I've been reading about.

Colon is impressive the way he finds his strikeout pitch when a runner finds third.

Anthony Rieber in the WOR booth. He's had one line and he's already sharper than Marc Carig.

Brian Stokes — hasn't pitched in the majors since 2010, hasn't pitched professionally since throwing up a 7.02 ERA for the Reno Aces in 2011, but keeps himself busy by hitting Met relievers with a whammy whenever they get close to his all-time RotM record. How much time does Familia really have?

I guess I've got to think it's something good that they're swapping 51s in and out so aggressively, giving everyone a chance to show his merit. It'd be nice if one of them would, but the management certainly isn't standing still. Among Monell's 589 career minor league games, he's logged 87 games at first and one at third. As a big leaguer, he's appeared in eight games, but only one on defense three innings at catcher in a September 14 game which the out-of-the-race Giants would go on to win 19-3 which tells you just about all you need to know about what folks think of his defense. He's here to come off the bench and hack or die trying. What a bad month for benchies. What a great month for Schaefer cards.

Got it. Puello to the 60.

Yes, indeed, as said above. But unless they are also DFA'ing him, they'll need to execute another move in order to make room on the 40-man roster.

Still waiting on a move to clear room on the 40. The simplest move may be to transfer Blevins the 60-Day DL.

How utterly baseless baseless speculation turns out to be.

I don't know. Monell had a full day off to find his way to San O'Shea. And I'm betting he's been at the park for about 10 hours. He's a New Yorker. He's probably already lined up a bunch of comps for his family.
