  1. Synderthunder gets us out of that one. Opponents one for their last 26 against him with two out and RISP.
  2. Kolten Wong has a busy swing. Surprised to see him make such good contact. Two out, though.
  3. Duda had a play at least at second. Mebbe at third.
  4. Run harder, Daniel Murphy. Good tough at-bat, but run harder at the end of it. Let's stop this bunt.
  5. This dopey Missouri football player they're interviewing in the booth is driving me crazy. I've got to pay for the upgrade to get the SNY feed.
  6. Cardinal broadcast booth also apparently unaware of the existence of Harper or Goldschmidt started pimping Peralta for MVP. Peralta obliged by striking out. Syndergaard for MVP!
  7. Matt Holliday activated from the DL and batting third tonight. Grichuk bounces over from left to center. So much for the weak spot in the lineup. We're gonna have to do this the hard way.
  8. Wondering who is replacing those poor released sheep in Bingo? Well, there was already a roster slot open, so four guys get added. Two of them are Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto returning from the Futures Game roster, but additionally added is the demoted Rainy Lara, who got hit hard in Las Vegas, and second baseman Brandon Kaupe, promoted all the way from Brooklyn, despite a .562 OPS. Not exactly the kind of guy you want to replace an Aderlin Rodriguez with, but the Mets have their funny ways.
  9. I'm remembering Wally Backman having a 55 day back in 1985 and riding pine the next day. Of course he did. The Pirates were going with a lefty.
  10. It'll be interesting to see if the switch from Savannah to Columbia will change the organizational structure that suppresses slugging percentages the lower down on the ladder they are.
  11. Matz will be off the DL before the deadline hits. And he can also be dealt as a PtBNL. Just a little surprised to hear he's achieved the same untouchability status as their other top pitching assets. Wheeler is no longer particuarly big, it would seem.
  12. Good. We could use a Kevin McReynolds on this team.

I imagine they'll have climbed out of that hole if they make the playoffs.
  14. Zach returns to the Pacific Coast League in Pacific Coast style, going 4-5 with three RBI in the 51s' 105 win over Albuquerque.
  15. Schumer is from my home town, and hers was a Mets family.
  16. Gwreck wrote: Lynn lost twice to the Mets last year, giving up big hits to unlikely candidates (ie. Chris Young, Eric Young, Jr., and Bartolo Colon). Unlikely is a tame word to describe giving up a big hit to 2014 Bartolo Colon. The guy was 262 (.039)! Great knowledge. Cards have ex-Met and forever-Card Jos Oquendo coaching third. Otherwise-retired Tim McCarver is working select Cardinal games as a guest analyst.
  17. Sam Can Not Have Dinner. That's your mnemonic device for memorizing the Mets rotation in the second half. SCNHD. Syndergaard-Colon-Niese-Harvey-deGrom. Technically, they haven't announced those last two yet, but sometimes you've got to rely on speculation. Interesting to see the Cardinals opposing Niese with Not Yet Announced. Meanwhile, Hall-of-Fame Electee John Smoltz has declared the Mets rotation to be "way better" than the one he pitched with in Atlanta, which is such high praise that it leaves me a little wary. He then goes on to complain about how pitchers are handled these days, and I've read it three times, and I'm possibly less certain what he's talking about than when I started. Anyhow, Sam Can Not Have Dinner. Or possibly Sam Can Not Dine Here. I'm not sure yet.
  18. Zach's more of a third baseman, but given my druthers, I think I'druther have Castellanos.
  19. Sorry, world, but the Mets just signed 18th-rounder Jordan Humphreys. I don't know much about him, and don't even have a photo, but Jordan hails from Crystal River, Florida, which means he grew up drinking from the same well as Mike Hampton. Tough break, world. Some of these guys are almost as young as the forum.
  20. I demand this be forever known as The Beauchamp Game. [fimg=700:1o9tsi4t]http://www.ultimatemets.com/scorecard_graph.php?game=1743&font=1[/fimg:1o9tsi4t]
  21. Mr. Met looks like a smarmy dick. Not sure I trust this guy.
  22. My expectations aren't low. The thing is that the tragic song of heartbreaking losses and owners who don't give a shit is sung by fans in virtually every town and of virtually every professional sport. Agree most otherwise.
  23. Centerfield wrote a song about Vic Black. [youtube:3nlrrdjv]yahBtp_1jWE[/youtube:3nlrrdjv]
