  1. I appreciate a fine new metric, but this thread keeps making me want pancakes.
  2. I blame this loss on Soupcan.
  3. Rockin' Doc wrote: The Red Sox pen isn't much for throwing strikes. Has to be maddening for a manager. It seems maddening too for the pitcher left out there when he's hurting.
  4. I don't think they will. They don't tend to do that.
  5. This guy seems uncomfortable still.
  6. I had nothing against most of them. Victorino, maybe.
  7. Well, that explains that.
  8. Wow, Laggy looked hurt.
  9. Not that time. Wright swinging at junk from a junk-dealer.
  10. This guy is something. Set up to fail and in a rush to do so.
  11. Wow, Familia's got a splitter and it's making swiss cheese of the Sox bats.
  12. You always know you're gonna get a good episode of Laugh-In if you see Jackie Bradley, Jr.'s name in the opening credits. That guy kicks Arte Johnson's ass.
  13. Span and Taylor on the same day. THAT is demoralizing. Unless, by some crazy chance, your name is Matt den Dekker. I assume he's the next in line.

Warm ups are stress free pitches. There's a difference with in-game pitches. He should have gotten the night off unless it was impossible. And don't mind me cause truth is I have nothing to complain about. I'm not saying I do, either. But there's plenty who do think that once you've warmed up, it's become a pitching day for you. Whitey Herzog's position was that, if he warmed you up twice but didn't put you in, head for the showers and join us in the dugout after. Your work day is done.
  15. They were planning on sending him back out, if the game continued tied. But that changed once they went ahead.
  16. d'Arnaud just LAUNCHED the throw-down into center. Bad omen, man.
  17. The main reason to go to Familia is if you are operating under the philosophical position that you've already burned him by warming him up.
  18. I've never seen an on-deck batter's interference call. But apparently, the Phils aren't going to press the point.
  19. Wow, how nailed would Torres have been on that one? Forget Torres. A 21-year-old Tim Raines would have been a dead duck.

  21. Not sure I've ever seen a catch quite like that, what with the navigating around the corner. But I've CERTAINLY never seen a play like that 1-3-1 putout.
  22. The idea that bunting isn't even an option in we-need-one-run situations may be a survivable flaw tonight (or it may not), but it sure would be an option that would be nice to have in the post-season.
  23. I don't want to put any un-necessary pressure on you guys, Mets, but each inning is another inning closer to O'Flaherty.
