  1. My radio feed has a terrifically misguided series of Flo-starring Progressive ads that make this evening all the more misbegotten.
  2. Mets could have made (and still can make) this an actual issue by showing some stick.
  3. I think a lot of announcers have drawn inferences from how he seemed to have responded.
  4. Scott Boras, pitcher of record.
  5. Right now, I'm hoping he's the best hitting catcher tonight.
  6. Twenty-eight pitches down and Cuddy up with the bags loaded. Long bottom of the first going on. Girardi may get to fifty pitchers after all.
  7. Tejada is a fine choice. I also like seeing d'Arnaud up with two out and a duck out there.
  8. Yeah, day game Saturday and night game Sunday just doesn't compute at all. And the official start time is listed as "8:08 PM." Seriously? 8:08?
  9. Mets announcers were all "It's not Girardi's fault it's the system that allows him to do it." Come on, men. Don't be Girardipologists! I'm hoping he uses fifty pitchers tonight, of course.
  10. Me gusta Cespedes en el tercer hoyo. Duda es el zurdo solo.
  11. Lefty Specialist wrote: I'm guessing the innings limit won't come into play because he'll be knocked out in the 4th inning. He'll come up small like he did against the Nats. Not rooting for this mind you, but I think Harvey has this innings stuff in his head right now. And who's the long man tonight? They used Gilmartin yesterday and Verrett's pitching Tuesday for deGrom. If the Dark Knight doesn't go at least 6 this may cause issues. The Mets have 18 pitchers. They'll muddle through somehow.
  12. "Murphy" means "Seabattle" or "Seabattler," if you go back enough years. Fascinating enough, considering the Irish have almost no history as sea battlers, despite being an island nation. If he signs with the Mariners he won't just be fulfilling his nominal calling, he'll be "Seabattle from Seattle." Carlos Torres is, of course, real estate mogul and dashing man-about-town Charles Towers.
  13. Mets frallying!!
  14. Girardi thinks he's managing an All-Star game. Five pitches to throw a four-hit shutout and he's not done yet.
  15. Cespedes and Wright both go down in what could have been a big inning with some meaningful contact out of either. Uribe for Duda. Hmmm. HMMMM.
  16. Edgardo Alfonzo knockin' 'em out in the WOR booth.
  17. Syndergaard: 3 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 H, 3 SO, 3.33 ERA.
  18. Bunt on this cheater. Make him break a sweat.
  19. Hey, Cardinals. For Pete's sake, don't piss off the Cubs.
  20. It was awful nice of the people in the background of his Astros shot to show up again wearing the same clothes in the background of his Pirates shot. Topps worked so hard on getting that sort of authenticity.
  21. Anybody else concerned that Daddy's been getting a little over-cute since he brought the new pitch on board? He's getting the job done, but with more balls, more walks more base runners. Mostly more balls. He seems less the aggressive pitcher we'd known in the first half, and a lot like Jenrry Mejia looked down the stretch last year. Dangerous living, or just fatigue, I dunno. And should one be necessarily less concerning than the other?
  22. While that's certainly true, and I would have stuck with Reed it's certainly the way I play it in computer and card games, with everybody in my bullpen getting a chance at a save now and then I'm certain that at the time Terry made the choice, he didn't intend for Familia to throw 26 pitches.
  23. His M.O. threatens to cost the Mets games, maybe. And games are dear things. Or maybe, warming up is the same as getting into a game nine times out of ten, and I dunno what I'm talking about.
  24. Sabathia, A-Rod, Teixeira, and Gardner, I guess are the only active ring-bearers left on the team.
