  1. One thing I have to hand to Terry: He's the only guy in the world who has looked at this lineup and thought that Murphy is the guy to choose for the #3 batter, but damned if he isn't getting it done, kinda. He certainly hasn't been the problem.
  2. Interesting game for Matz. No walks, but 10 hits. I applaud my strike-zone pounding Mets pitchers, but maybe they've been a little too aggressive of late. On the other hand, a single walk, as rare as she may be, oft portends disaster.
  3. Some more clutch hitting by Harper ends it.
  4. Darren O'Day, you esteemed former Met, I place my joy in your hands.
  5. He has been back there for a while. Now he's busted back up and I salute it.
  6. "When you throw at somebody's head on purpose first pitch, straight out the get-go, then you throw a curveball, then you throw again at the head, that's just ... ," Machado said, using a street term. "You know it's coward stuff. It's just coward." Manny Machado, most important non-Met to the 2015 Mets. I actually like the second-to-third bunt play with no outs, as bunt plays go. Of course, I like it better when the Nats fail to execute it.

  8. We need five positive outcomes out of 15 games in order to clinch before the final series. I shouldn't worry, right? Why should I let myself worry?
  9. MFS62 wrote: With all the MVP finishes, he never led his league in ANY offensive category (counting stats). Not one in any one year. It will make evaluating him more difficult as time passes, and such evaluations are based solely on numbers. Catchers don't tend to lead in much. But sure, he led in games caught. Year after year. No small thing.
  10. Ronnie James can fix this.
  11. A pitch doesn't have to be a beanball to piss off a team. Nor does it have to be a beanball to piss them off justifiably. Sometimes, just being seemingly or demonstrably reckless or indifferent to the power you have to seriously maim an opponent is enough to be infuriating.
  12. Terry didn't juggle the lineup anymore than he had all through the winning streaks. The rotation is a different story, and that's not really on Terry alone.
  13. First losing homestand of the year at a terrible time. The Hollies have totally disappointed me. Hey, Terry, man, what's your game now? Can anybody play?
  14. The least walky Mets team in history I would guess. And yet the relatively few walks they've allowed have still killed. Killed? Murdered.
  15. Kablammo. Dangy dang.
  16. Freeman got a chance here for breaking hearts like the one in me.
  17. Totally a fan of this. Anywhich, he can't get a save at this point, so he's got to come in.
  18. Manny Machado, American hero.
  19. Post-season rosters are for winners. Let's win. An 0-2 HbP, man. Killer.
  20. Clippard? How many times can you go to that well, Terry Terry?
  21. OK, stinkos, nine outs to get one run back. Totally do-able.
  22. Yeah, well he didn't lay any lightning on Bourn here.
