  1. The problem with the "assumed the DP" theory is that he saw the failed exchange and celebrated it. At the point of celebration, he seems to then have either forgotten he was on the base paths, or failed to realize that he wasn't the player who was put out. I saw Granderson double back after the failed transfer to be certain he touched home plate. So clearly he was concerned he also assumed too much and had forgot to take care of business as well. It would have been a real disaster if he actually hadn't initially touched the plate and Murphy got tagged before he doubled back.
  2. Nice to find the road out of Panic City.
  3. He was indeed, which is remarkable for a guy with zero homers. But his Punch-and-Judy offense came combined with some defensive excellence. And lots of walks.
  4. I was a little disturbed when I learned they were combining George Brett's DNA with Cecil Cooper's to create a designer ballplayer, but it seems to have worked out well.
  5. Zvon wrote: I don't feel that Harvey's concern over his arm and his future is driven by primadonnaness. Not saying he doesn't fall into that category but I don't think it applies here. there is a legitimate concern, I just personally feel it's overblown. I love made up words I love talk of Tom Seaver ripping new asses.

  7. You gotta take the Muff with the Murph. It's winning baseball, but not for the faint of heart.
  8. A lot of calls for the Mets to drop everything and lock Cespedes up long term. Then they suddenly stopped this week. Curious.
  9. Garcia's hit? Tejada'd'veh'd it.
  10. Apart from the great play by Duda, that was a great job covering by Niese.
  11. Orioles and Nats delayed by rain. Nats in clubhouse, cheering for Murphy.
  12. Go get 'em, Duda!
  13. I'm not sure what he was concluding. He clearly knew something good happened, but still seemed to think he was out.
  14. But enough about Fman.
  15. That's more my speed.

  17. Third basemen got to throw balls too, though.
  18. I guess he was a high schooler or something when this place was born.
  19. Brewers join the ranks of teams headed up by an Ivy Leaguer, hiring Harvard grad David Stearns, assistant GM with the Astros the last three years. He's THIRTY.
  20. Needing eight in a row to put it to bed would be remarkable, as it would indicate Washington has won eight in a row also.
  21. Well, "it" doesn't have to be a complete game shutout. He's thrown 30 games of seven or more innings with one or fewer runs allowed. I think that's an "it" we can all get behind.
  22. Who can you fully trust? That's a tough standard. You've got to march with the soldiers you've got. I'd be worried if we had Bob Gibson 1968 going tonight and Walter Johnson 1913 to follow him. Who's that warming up in the pen? Pedro 2000? STILL WORRIED!! That said, Niese throwing a shutout wouldn't surprise me in the least. It's baseball. And he's done it plenty.
  23. I'm glad. I was thinking she was missing on this series. I'll let her know otherwise, least as far as Massachusetts is concerned. Good people paid good money, Mets. Don't be fuckin' around.
