  1. The game may be tied, but the Mets have been beating the shift all night.
  2. Lot of strikes on David tonight, but going down looking at a fastball down the middle is a dishonor.
  3. I went to delete the post, but Monkfish had already posted in the thread. Good show. Here's the original post. __________________ Me llamo Logan Verrett. L to the V. You may have been surprised that I even made this team, what with Sean Gilmartin spending all of 2015 with the team. But you know who is rilly suprised? Miami and Philadelphia, that's who. I'm supposed to be the guy you WANT to face, moonlighting in the Mets rotation as I am. And yet me and my two last names are mowing down National Leaguers like so much grass in the field. Heck, this jerk Edgy already put up a thread about me today, instead of folding his thoughts into this one. I don't know whether I'll be in the bullpen or the rotation for most of this year. But I know that Baltimore and Texas are sorry they fumbled me away. And I don't expect I'll be somebody that folks will be lining up to face. What do you expect? 4. The shift is taking a beating today.
  5. I'm going to have to revise those 20-homer likelihoods. [bigpurple:y2geyl7i]K A B O O M ! ! M O O B A K[/bigpurple:y2geyl7i]
  6. Welcome to the season Travis d'A.
  7. I know. What a freak that guy was, even if he takes the issue from spot-starting swingmen to ROoGYs. [fimg=600]http://img.spokeo.com/public/900-600/chad_bradford_2006_07_29.jpg[fimg] Has a connection Innis and Leach, too, because his dad was the chaplain for the AA Jackson Mets when those two were passing through.
  8. Mets up 2-0, and just like yesterday, even the outs are hard.
  9. Mets had good continuity from Leach to Innis. That's almost nonstop goofball sidearming in the back of the pen from 1981 to 1993.
  10. What a season last year was in most respects, but it's an amazin' sidebarf that the team was simultaneously able to grab a good-but-not-neccessarily-ready-for-prime-time player through the Rule V draft, and reclaim a GbNNRfPT player a lesser team (TWO lesser teams) failed to carry after grabbing him in the Rule V draft. Talk about win-win. Thanks for helping Verrett get his feet wet on your time and dime, guys. Matt Bowman, by the way, was taken by the Cardinals with the last pick of the first round this season. And he's hanging in there, pitching 6 2/3 innings over five games and yielding just one run. If you love your Mets, root for him to fail, so he can be Verretted back to the Mets forthwith. Mets also lost righthander Octavio Acosta and shortstop Alfredo Reyes in the AAA phase while themselves passing every round. Metsibling (despite what Frayed Knot says) Tyler Goeddel, who we've already seen a lot of, was the first Rule V pick this year, followed by two guys (Jake Cave and Evan Rutckyj) being snatched from the Yankees. Both of those have since been returned.
  11. Likelihood of hitting 20: Cespedes 90% Duda 75% Granderson 68% Conforto 63% Walker 61% Wright 58% d'Arnaud 41% Cabrera 26% Flores 19% De Aza 9% Lagares 7% Plawecki 2% Campbell 1% Bernadina 1%
  12. Peter Bourjos wears the cone of shame.
  13. I was impressed that he could beat people with the heat upstairs last night. Yeah, it was indeed the Phillies, but that was a little more macho than I thought he had in him.
  14. Couldn't find the old thread. Maybe it got archived. Or maybe our already wanting search mechanism is failing along with our editing buttons. The Daily Stache explains that it’s all in the pancakes. ohmurph.com, the blog with the best wallpaper, offers lamentations for their namesake. Amazin’ Avenue promotes the idea of having the pitcher bat leadoff. (A similar [and stronger] case can be made for having him bat third.) And Good Tickle Brain helps you with your Shakespeare viewing decisions.
  15. You mis-spelled "TRAID."
  16. Has Logan Verrett created a situation? As with many players who pitch for a short time in a rotation, but flourish, a team may be tempted to look around for somebody to bump when the injured player returns. But this rotation? This rotation was mean to be impenetrable. Or almost anyhow. One thing seems for certain: Bartolo won't be allowed a month of stumbles again like he was the last two years (both times finding his game and turning his season around, but still).
  17. Lets everybody remember to thank Philadelphia for eventually putting a pad across the top bar of their fence, or Lagares might be holding a one-way ticket to Rowandia.
  18. Hi, I'm Zach Thornton. I'm in my seventh minor league season. And I'm getting a little pissed. I'm also with my third organization, going back to 2010 with the Athletics. I'm guessing somebody from the old days is now with the Mets and remembers me from the A's, and I'm counting on that to be my meal ticket. Besides, the Mets need to get out of the gate if they're going to win the Ike Davis trade. Ike has put up, what... 0.9 bWAR since leaving the Mets, and... what's that? NEGATIVE 0.9 bWAR? I guess they don't need me at all to help win that trade. So anything I give them... IS A BONUS! So ... what kind of bonus should we expect? 19. This is pretty big. I mean, to the extent that anybody cares about the 2016 Phils, this was appointment television. A hot young starter off to an historic start... and the Mets utterly battered them.
  20. I got into 20 games and OPS'd at 1.060 this spring. You take the bad with the good. I'M JUST SAYING!
  21. I lurk. I'm Travis Taijeron, and I lurk around these parts. And my lurking tells me some of youse aren't impressed by your team's bench. "Outfield reserve service got you down?" I think, "well please call my name!" I'm Travis Taijeron, and just this spring, I learned that my last name has more-or-less two syllables and is pronounced "Tyrone." How about that? What I didn't need to learn is that I can hit. I out-hit all those other 51s last year, going deep for 25 homers and 71 RBIs, and posting .929 OPS — the highest for any Las Vegasino who appeared in over 70 games. You know how many guys the Mets carried in September? Thirty-seven, that's how many? I didn't even know any team ever approached carrying the maximum allowable roster of 40. You know how many were named Taijeron? Nada. That's bullshit. I waited and waited for the Mets to call my name, but I didn't hear it. Or maybe I did hear it, but I thought they were talking to somebody named "Tyrone." You start a conversation about "Most Productive Guy on Our AAA Team Who Nonetheless Doesn't Get Called Up," you're usually talking about thirty-somethings, but I was only 26. Twenty-six! Don't consign me to obscurity! I think I can help! What do you think? 22. Guys, I think Neil Walker may be able to bat righthanded after all.
  23. Icons are broken for me as well. Hard times in forum land, folks.
